Tiny bakery selling a handful of donut choices each day until the stock runs out.- Google
"The buttermilk old fashion doughnut was very good."
"The chestnut glazed tops the list followed by the lemon poppyseed old fashioned."

This place WOULD be easy to miss, if it weren't for the ridiculous line of people eagerly awaiting their delicious donuts each morning. The actual shop itself is about the size of a small closet, fitting approximately 4-6 people inside at a time. The rest wait patiently for their little circular, sugar-glazed carb-pillows of heaven. All flavors I've tried so far are amazing. The interior, though the size of my coffee cupboard, is novelty and very cute. Definitely a must-stop if you are a Chicago donut enthusiast.

It's borderline illegal to live in Chicago and not be down for donuts. The vault has an intensely loyal fan base for good reason. I'm all over a chocolate donut at the drop of a hat and this place has a good one. When I can't grab one from my first choice the little Doughnut Vault van is a strong second in town. Look for it somewhere on Clark late in the morning and soothe the savage donut beast inside you.

There are a lot of delicious doughnut shops in Chicago but I have to say, the Doughnut Vault is my favorite. I love the small storefront they have on Franklin but even more, I love finding their Vault Van out on the streets - which exclusively serves multiple varieties of old fashions and coffee. It's funky shape and blue and green color makes it hard to miss. The chestnut glazed tops the list followed by the lemon poppyseed old fashioned. What is so great about the Vault is that they keep it simple - don't get me wrong I like all kinds of fun doughnuts but the Vault knows how to excite with just really, really good simple doughnuts. Follow them on Instagram to find the Vault Van!

The overall experience was ok, but the donuts were very good. Truly a donut vault as the entrance and serving area were very narrow. I'm sure the wait is much more pleasant when it's not so cold. The old fashioned donuts were the favorite of the group, but the chestnut glazed were a close second. The pleasant surprise was that each donut had a different consistency and none of them were too sweet- like sometimes you get with glazed donuts. The old fashioned was heavy and rich, the ginger stacked filled my mouth with with a ginger feel (the more you eat it the stronger it gets... yum!), and the glazed were huge and airy and just the right amount of sweetness.

Just like cupcakes took the city by storm....Doughnuts have invaded our fine city. There are several establishments in River North and the city selling outstanding doughnuts that are just yummie! BUT the Doughnut Vault is the king in my mind. They have a daily flavor rotation that they publish on their blog weekly. They also offer some standard flavors daily and i have yet to try one i do not like. It is a simple and friendly operation where they sell doughnuts and excellent coffee from Bow Truss Coffee Roasters They are now open 7 days a week M-F 8am until they sell out or 3pm and then Sat and Sun 9:30am until they sell out or 3pm. Right after they open each day there is usually a line of some sort as this place is no secret and is regional favorite!

I'd been meaning to try it for a while, but honestly I found it overrated. The doughnuts were fluffy and fine, but way too expensive for a basic glazed doughnut, and more cakey than I like. It didn't melt in my mouth. It was huge and pretty dry. To be honest, I'd take a Krispy Kreme half the volume, and figure the unhealthiness would average out. They don't have a ton of topping choices, either. I was glad I didn't wait in the long line this sometimes draws--a midday stop saved me the time. So I thought it was worth trying, and would be worth grabbing as I pass nearby, but it was nothing to write home about.

OMG, this place is delicious. It is technically my second fav place (Do-Rite I LOVE YOU). But this place is the BOMB for huge fluffy, yeast like donuts. They are light and sweet and heaven pockets. The bad the space is small so expect to wait in line outside cash only small selection no seating so you must take them to go
