Customer service will be a differentiator for companies moving forward, and savvy businesses can tap into a powerful advocacy channel if they choose to provide world class service to their customers.

Customer success is something that many businesses say they value, but many are less willing to put in the resources into service programs. This lack of focus on customer success, coupled with high attrition within the service ranks, means many businesses are slowing down their growth potential.

However, a segment of growing businesses recognize customer success as a key differentiator that will keep their business on the growth trajectory.
Businesses have traditionally invested their resources into the sales and marketing functions. It makes sense, after all; marketers attract potential customers and sales seals the deal. But what happens after a prospect converts? Often, very little.

And as a result, most consumers today do not believe the businesses they buy from care about their success. This is because focus on customer success has always been secondary to closing a deal, especially for startups and small businesses. But it shouldn’t be.

Maybe you consider them a fad. Or a cheap gimmick. Or something better suited for tweens and teens.

Look closer. And don’t be fooled by the first part of their name.
Chatbots are more than just another way for Millennials to chat and shoot the breeze online. Businesses both large and small are using them in very exciting ways – leads, conversions, e-commerce, customer service, engagement, and more.

Governed by programmed rules and/or artificial intelligence, a chatbot allows someone to interact and converse with it via a platform like Facebook Messenger. They don’t – and should not – aim to replace humans.

They are a complement to humans. With them, you can connect, collect, and engage with your customers, fans, and users 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Imagine a customer service rep that never sleeps, never misses a call or social media mention, and responds instantly.

That’s a chatbot. They can answer your most frequently asked questions, collect survey responses or customer feedback, schedule appointments, and fill in the gaps when a real-live human isn’t available.
Are you using one with your business?

When assessing the performance of your rewards program, redemption rate is an important metric you’ll want to pay special attention to. Knowing what percentage of issued reward points are being redeemed is a great way to determine if your customers are actually engaging with and using your program.

A healthy program aims to have a redemption rate of at least 20%, but what if yours doesn’t?

A low redemption rate usually stems from a lack of customer engagement. If your customers aren’t completing valuable actions to earn rewards, it follows naturally that they’re probably not going to be redeeming very many rewards either. The real question, then, is how to get your customers to participate in your program and all it has to offer.

The easy answer is simply to tell them to! Effective promotion can make all the difference when it comes to rewards program engagement. After all, if customers don’t know about your program, how can they be expected to engage?

It is quite common in businesses and working offices that the sales and marketing departments can become segregated and isolated, mis-communicating whilst working towards their own independent goals, therefore not producing the optimum results for the company.

It is not that they are necessarily doing wrong, but that they are not helping themselves to immerse in an environment which allows them to achieve better efficiency – and to perform in a more organised, strategic and logical way.

>>Sales:

– The organised communication process of a lead through the sales cycle. The sales team are responsible for the physical selling process of a product or service and catalyzing the exchanging of a commodity for money through various stages.

>>Marketing:

– The strategy, exposure and initial communication with prospects, raising awareness of and about the product or service through a range of creative and structured channels with the intention of generating leads to begin the sales process.
