My view on this - society should hold jobs/careers like waitering/waitressing, catering etc. in higher esteem than they do currently. Many young kids who work in the profession perhaps do not put their all into it because it is viewed as an expedient or a stepping stone to other parts of their life. Maybe if we learned not to look down on such people and treat them like doormats they would do a better job for us. I totally agree with Eric Thomas though - everyone should strive to do their work as best as they can.

Did it strike anyone else that some parts of Chapter 1 are extremely badly written? Section 6 linking disability with the different theories of identity seems particularly awkard!

Any idea how to do the same thing when you have different CRS systems between two layers?
Please see Nearest Neighbor Analysis for an updated version of this tutorial. GIS is very useful is analyzing spatial relationship between features. One such analysis is finding out which features are closest to a given fea...

You can convert one of them to the other CRS before performing the calculation.

Q: what in your opinion is the biggest problem in the world today that needs solving?

So has anyone started the reading? I'm about halfway through skim-reading Chapter 1 (Identity).

I'm so far behind it's ridiculous (having broken my collar bone), but back on the horse, just! Currently working on TMA04 then I really should think about how to tackle the exam. Anyone looking at this yet?

Incidentally, does anyone know how to reference the second book of Mapping Psychology? APA referencing guidance does not seem to have any spec for this. I thought:

Brace, N. and Roth, I. (2007). Memory: Structures, Processes and Skills. In D. Miell, A. Phoenix, & K. Thomas (Eds.), Mapping psychology (2nd ed., bk.2,  pp. 111-163). Milton Keynes: The Open University.

Hope you're all doing ok.

Put it this way Brian - there are a thousand monkeys shuffling money around in the city...but there is only one London Real. For me, watching the show has been life changing (literally).

In the exam there will be question about key terms over the course. I am sure that somewhere I saw a list of key terms for Chapter 1, but I seem to have lost it! Does anyone know where this is?

Found it! It's at the back of the study guide for relevant weeks (e.g. key terms for Chapter 2 - Evolutionary Psychology are at the end of the study guide for wk 6).

Hi guys, just wondering how everyone is getting on? I'm part way through Study week 3 (up to detailed reading on Section 5 - social constructionism). Some interesting stuff about grid notes on workbook Activity 3.1 - great way to structure notes about TMA01. In fact, it's more or less done for you!

I'm doing ok Chris. I'm starting to look at TMA01 now as I'm a bit ahead in the course.
