New Pool Construction Project in Carmel Park

The homeowner chose Pebble Sheen in Blue Granite for the pool’s interior finish.  The pebble is shot into the pool and then hand troweled to a smooth surface.

A rinsing wand uses water pressure to remove excess cement in order to expose the stones in the pebble sheen mix.  A blower helps to move water and the excess cement off of areas with no slope; otherwise,  it would dry and harden in these areas and the beauty of the stones would not be seen.

The pool will be acid-washed to expose the pebble finish and then filled with water.

New Pool Construction Project in Lawson | Waxhaw, NC

Construction is underway at this new pool project in the Lawson neighborhood in Waxhaw.  Here is the layout, dig and steel process.  A  4″ gravel base was spread on the bottom of the pool to keep the area clean and to provide a good foundation for the concrete shell.  3/8″ rebar was used on the walls, while 1/2″ rebar was used on the floor, all tied 12″ on center.

The concrete shell was shot using 4,000 psi shotcrete, which is a mixture of portland cement, aggregate (rock) and water all mixed together and pumped from a concrete truck’s barrel mixer to a concrete pump.  The shotcrete is pumped through a 2 1/2″ hose that has a compressed air nozzle where the shotcrete is then pneumatically applied.  Here is the completed shell, with 12″ thick walls and 8″ thick floor.

The next phase of this project is tile and coping installation.
