Happy Hump Day! Today is the last day of February, and we are now on the road to spring. I'm looking forward to lighter mornings and evenings. And hopefully no more snow!

I love Green Tea, but try to stick to decaf, mostly, unless I need a massive caffeine boost lol! Here's some #wellnesswednesday tips about the benefits of getting more Green Tea into your day.

Look Up!
It's scary to share a photo of myself, especially one that isn't photoshopped to perfection, but I kind of like this one and it reminds me that #drishti is important in life and yoga.
Drishti is where we focus our eyes (and therefore our energy.)

How many times a day do you look up? How many times do you glance away from your mobile devices and see the sky, or the eyes of the person talking to you?

Today I challenge you to look up. You never know, maybe you'll see something that takes your breath away.

#justbreathe

Breath is life. Breath is precious. Breath is mindfulness.

When we breathe we take in more than oxygen, we take in hope and the sensations of being alive.

I hope you enjoyed the 2017 #affirmationadvent #adventcalendar

I am taking a break from social media for a few days, to enjoy the festive season with my family. I hope that you all have a wonderful Christmas, and enjoy spending some time with those dearest to you.

Just try to find a few minutes to have some quiet time, just for you!

Day 12 - Savasana

Before lying down put on any extra layers, and add a blanket too. If you have an eye pillow use that to help you get into the spirit of relaxation.

Lay on your back and relax. Breathe and let yourself completely settle into the mat.

Tips - if you have a bolster or a couple of pillows, place them under your knees to help make your lower back a little bit more comfortable.

Day 11 - Reclining twist

Lay on your back and place your right foot, lightly, onto your left knee. Then twist towards the left, taking your left hip up but trying to keep both shoulders on the floor. This will create a spinal twist.

To come out of the pose, take a deep breath in and on the exhale return to lay flat on your mat. Pause for a few breaths until are ready to repeat on the other side.

Disclaimer - any spinal issues take this pose easy and don't push too far. Use props as described below and limit how long you hold the pose for.

Tips - a bolster can be placed under the bent knee to give you some support or a place to twist towards. Alternatively, the bolster can be placed behind your back to encourage the spinal twist and support your back.
Your arms can come out to a T shape, in line with your shoulder, or they can stay by your side. Whatever feels more comfortable for you.
Depending on how your neck feels, you can either look in the direction you are twisting, look back behind you, or take your gaze up towards the ceiling.

It's the second last day of our #affirmationadvent #adventcalendar and it has been a bit of an up and down month. The dark mornings (and nights) as well as the cold have taken their toll on me, and I am definitely in need of my holidays from work.

But I am choosing to believe that these little social media posts have had a positive affect on the world. Maybe they made someone's day a little brighter, or made another person stop and think in a way they may not have before.

I'm not great at these social media posts, but I'm trying to put something positive out into the world. I'm trying to be the change I'd like to see.

Day 10 - Bananasana

This is a great lateral stretch for the body, and it can be quiet relaxing and restful too.

Lay on your mat and take both feet and legs towards the bottom right hand corner of the mat. Then take the upper body (shoulders and arms) towards the top right hand corner of the mat. If your arms come to floor naturally, then relax and enjoy the pose. For those of us with tight shoulders (mine were pretty open in the picture, but are not normally like that!) you can take your arms out to a cactus (I surrender) position or have them laying by your side.

To come out of the pose, gently bring your body to the centre of the mat and when ready, repeat on the other side.

Tips - you want to stretch the side of your body in this pose, without pulling with your arms or pushing with your legs.

If we stop to notice, we might just see
That we amaze ourselves in lots of different ways.
Sometimes I amaze myself by finding time to be super organised - getting up early and tidying my house, or making my lunch the night before.

But other times I amaze myself by simply being, or doing nothing because sometimes that is what I need.
