What a great year 2012 was!

We started out with a mild winter that held great snow before enjoying a record breaking sunny hot summer. The Fall was endless and we celebrated it with a successful film fest that raised over $2600 for for volunteer groups building trails. Finally, we finished it off with an amazing start to winter with mild temps, lots of snow and ice forming in the rocks, and determined riders refusing to hibernate the bike and riding next to the skiers!

A big thanks to the followers that joined us last year. We look forward to celebrating Bragg Creek and Kananaskis with you in 2013!

"Spray Lakes Sawmills expects the logging in West Bragg Creek, which is about 300 hectares of the approved plan, will be complete this winter — although the province said the FireSmart work could take until 2014."

There is no mention of the fact that this plan is temporary and that it does not protect the community, it only delays how long it will take for the fire to wipe out the community. There still is no secondary egress option available to protect the citizens.

Do you want to have a say in the future of Kananaskis?

Public input is being requested to determine what the land should be used for. The following map depicts the proposed land use framework. Despite the massive public outcry over the logging plan, the current map doesn't reserve any area in the Elbow Valley for Recreation/Tourism only.
