Hey look, PBS thinks it's TOTES FUNNY to have the only female scientist at this table simply "be happy to be included," then get repeatedly sexually harassed, then sexually assaulted. Yeah. So completely hilarious guys!

Be thankful for everything that science has given you this year! And check the expiration date on your cranberry sauce.

We need your support. Comment on the posts, share, write letters. Support female scientists in leadership positions! Why was Canopy Meg Ousted? Original post here: http://blogs.scientificamerican.com/context-and-variation/2013/06/17/why-has-canopy-meg-been-ousted/ and follow up here: http://blogs.scientificamerican.com/context-and-variation/2013/06/19/canopy-meg-fancy-title-but-does-she-still-have-authority/

Is it hot in here, or did I just ovulate?

This is the sort of ladybusiness post you never knew you needed. Follow along with me as I sort through the scant literature on premenopausal night sweats.

Thanks Kathryn for your reply - I'm almost 70 and long past it now. But we checked everything - diet, blood tests etc. and the only thing left was the hormone level changes.  I'd been a relatively high-hormones person (getting pregnant several times while on birth control pills e.g.), so I guess when they dropped, my whole body went "what!?!" ... An interesting time, I must say.

This is worth sharing far and wide. The lead author of the takedowns Scicurious and I wrote on that ovulation and politics study (you know, the one that didn't measure ovulation?) answered a few questions for a reporter at the Chronicle. And, well, didn't actually answer any questions.@scicurious's post: http://t.co/kTaCMAO, my post: http://bit.ly/PuERfn, lead author's non-response: http://bit.ly/VVXM5s

I love that the author's response was basically, "The statistical methods are sound!  Therefore the criticisms of the biology and interpretation are unfounded."  Because we all know that statistics are true.
