Jon Cox braved the strangest skies to come to take delivery of his new 26T Scania accident unit and she has aptly been named “ Ophelia !”
A bespoke build to Jon’s exacting requirements she was our stands show stopper last month at the Tow Show. Her ‘ wow’ factor includes:
Eurotech steel F1 Low Approach with twin hydraulic motors with rack & pinion
Fassi F315 lorry loader crane with full remote control
Twin hydraulic brakes
Hydraulic tail gate
Second car lift
Hydraulic total lift frame
Full remote on all functions with proportional controls on all functions
Stainless steel lockers on body
Stainless steel side skirts with integral lockers
Fire extinguisher and gravel bins
Kelsa light bars fitted to front top and bottom
Full set of aluminium Alcoa wheels

Obviously delighted with her, Jon wanted to pass on his express thanks to all of the guys (with a special mention to Barry) who have worked tirelessly to produce such an amazing truck.

AWD Hammond's accident unit, sign written and on the road working every day.
We were delighted when AWD Hammond approached us to build a new accident unit – something that we have been focusing on a lot this year !
The Hammond Group history is one of those that makes you feel very proud to be British. Humble beginnings 55 years ago with a start up investment of £1,500 in a wooden shed, which, I quote,” could only house one and a half cars” to the present day representing 5 different manufacturers from 8 different premises and a staff of almost 300 employees. Despite the size of the company, Hammonds still hold that traditional “family value”. Derek Hammond, MD started his career serving petrol on the forecourt, this grass roots beginning is similar to the start of J & J and maybe that is why both companies strive to be the best they can be.
Built on an 18T Iveco this new Accident Unit is fully loaded, fitted with; Fassi Crane, dynamic package with 4 extensions, 6 function remote and hydraulically tiltable outriggers. Reinforced steel checker plate bed, sliding winch system with winching bollards, 6 chassis mounted tool lockers, fully hydraulic lay flat top deck with twin hydraulic front body locks and second car lift .As always both the sub frame and tilt frames are fully galvanized for longevity and the vehicle comes with full IVA approval.
Despite the distance from Suffolk to Andover the team from Hammonds visited us at J & J for the initial meeting / site visit where the easy rapport between the companies began. Understanding expectations and open communication is, as we all know, essential to creating a good business relationship. Hammonds expect excellence and J & J deliver excellence. Derek commented,” Right from the first phone call you have looked after us superbly”.
Hammonds are incredibly pleased with their new vehicle trusting in J & J’s experience and commitment to their custom
