I only went for the pie and beers, the walking up and down hills to get them nearly killed me. Luckily the only casualty was a toe nail, now blackened as a result of the "Gruelling Decent" on the final leg of the walk.
On Saturday, a team of 21 social hikers and friends are taking part in the 10 in 10 (and 5 in 5) challenge – a challenge to hike 10 peaks in 10 hours in the Lake District to raise money for +MS Society . To support the team, the site has (temporarily) been turned orange. Please support the team at donate to this fantastic cause!
Metrocab | Fully Charged A new electric taxi for London's diesel choked, particulate saturated streets. Bigger, smoother and cleaner, a delight to drive and so much more economic than the classic rattlers.
The war is over, independence won but the tribal fighting goes on, so very sad! A country held back from development is now unable to enforce the law, the old ways of settling disputes and long held grudges are once more prevailing. I traveled through this area in July, there were many injured then, sadly nothing has been done to prevent it escalating.
Sorry I've been quiet, I've been busy doing nothing, I'm taking a short break after leaving South Sudan, passed through Lokichoggio en-route to Nairobi, but right now I'm in Lamu, a small island off the Kenyan coast. On the 27th I fly back to Nairobi to spend the night, then it's off to Amsterdam on 28th, where I'll spend a few days, returning to home turf on 1st August, although there is a possibility I may delay that to meet someone in Amsterdam.
Speilplatz has been showing its age in recent years, but new life has been injected into the board of directors and the changes are apparent to those of us who have been here several times over the years. The woodland has been trimmed back to allow more sunlight into the grounds, essential for a sun club, some of the older holiday homes have been removed and vacant plots are available.
The future is looking good for Spielplatz!
