Latin American plates star at this offbeat, brick-walled eatery specializing in family recipes.- Google
"The lamb rib chop sope is arguably the best sope I've tasted."
"The place is too pretentious for my liking, however."

Never would I have thought there would be such a great restaurant located off of Atlantic blvd in Bell. Appears a little hidden or more so doesn't standout out much in outer decor to catch your eye when driving past but once found, you're in for some good grub from this restaurant. Me and my friends had arrived 45mins before the kitchen had closed (Thank God!) so we quickly viewed the menu and began ordering plates to share. We ordered four dishes that came out one after the other leaving a nice small gap to enjoy each. The foie gras, pan fried chicken, lamb rib chop sope, and the barbacoa was that nights selections and I was pleased with all. The foie gras had good flavor of both the duck and chicken liver. The pan fried chicken was very flavorful with the lentils and yogurt bringing more flavor to the meat. The lamb rib chop sope is arguably the best sope I've tasted. The masa for the sope tasted fresh with a nice crisp to it and the lamb chop was very delicious. A combination that I would have never thought would pair so good. The big winner tonight was the barbacoa which I had my heart set on due to one of my friends who swore by this dish stating it was the best barbacoa around and his statement was true. A nice portion of beef with a broth that had an awesome lime flavor. I also really enjoyed the veggies that was cooked in the broth. The half of onion provided in the dish had so much flavor that I wanted to call the server over for another piece but I knew that wasn't happening LOL. I really enjoyed this restaurant and it was an excellent choice that actually came last minute on a Saturday night. Next visit will be brunch for myself as I read is pretty good.

This place rocks. From drinks to the food.. If you like spicy drinks: Pelon is yummy. As far as the food: do a food tasting style, especially if in a group of 4 or more, starting with the fried Avocado and just go down the list! You can't go wrong with anything you order.... Every item is a 5-star....

Excellent dinning room, extremely attentive service and great food. The food was the star from appetizers right thru the delicious deserts and nice balanced wine list!

I love this place. A little pricey (dishes are about 18 dollars), but a good place to get plates to share. I highly recommend the sopes with carnitas and the taco appetizer. Honestly, appetizers are not really worth it on non happy hour time, might as well get a dish. As for cocktails, the pelon y beso is one of the best drinks I've ever tasted. Right amount of sweet and spicy. My friend got a michelada, which he said is the second best michelada he's ever had. The ambiance is really nice, relaxed and romantic. Love this place!!

Love love love this place. The food and drinks here are inventive and delicious. The blending of cuisines here is done in a thoughtful way. This is just your usual mishmash of flavors. We have tried everything on the menu and all the items are quite uniformly good. Ask the bartender to make you a custom drink. If this place represents where food is Los Angeles is headed, I will happily go along for the ride.

Went here with some friends on a whim. The atmosphere was good. The food was fairly pricey. I enjoyed it either way.

At least they are trying something different. The cocktails are unique, spicy and excellent. The food is OK (with a couple of somewhat misses) to very good, mostly very good, with some unique and interesting takes on latin food. The place is cool, mainly for adults, and a good place to hang with your friends or impress your date with some ethnic hipness, and have some good drinks and food. I'd come here again, though it's in Bell and I have no other earthly reason to go to Bell.
