His last studio album is perhaps his most interesting, and also possibly his best. Recorded in partnership with his equally famous wife, the artist Yoko Ono, 1980′s Double Fantasy is a psychedelic new-wave classic.

Don’t you just love it when you’re sitting in a pub on a Friday night and just think feck it, let’s head to a gig. You show up. There’s a few decent acts, nothing special, and then out from absolutely nowhere a band appears on a tiny stage, in front of about 50 people, and make the whole evening worthwhile. This is exactly what happened to me last month in Whelan’s at the “Ones to Watch” festival when Galway’s Race the Flux played.

It would be certainly remiss of us (here @ Screw Music) to disregard this story. And what a story. For us confirmed music anoraks who proudly scour the internet and record stores for interesting a creative new artists, the prospect of Garth Brooks playing five nights at Croke Park leaves us feeling very confused.
