In light of listening to NPR show in which Kevin Kelly sets out to prove that "tools never die" and are still existing somewhere, I hope I can still get one of these: A fully functional victorian mousetrap, for all your steampunk fantasy home needs.

Had super surreal bike accident in Brooklyn tonight: riding away from drunk belligerent car that crashed into a curb possibly trying to hit me and then followed me, ran into a giant roll of industrial saran wrap causing both bike and I to do some acrobatics.

So, in all my years of phone ownership, I have never lost my phone. Until now. Which, of course, also means that I never learned the lesson of back-up-you-phone-no-for-real-like. So if I once had your number and you would like me to have it again, please send. And until further notice, email will probably be the most effective form of contact.

So apparently, I blog like every six months. Trying to fix that. Here's some rough initial thoughts on the Google+ "Public/Nearby" feature I can't seem to shut up about.
A few weeks ago, on a whim, I tagged a public Google+ post with my location. I did it as a personal documentation measure, so that I could go back and remember

Yeah I'm curious/excited about this aspect of Google+ as well, since at this point it's usually someone interesting commenting on something of note. I imagine that soon enough it will be maddeningly clogged with the new equivalent of Farmville! Hahaha... But for now, it can be good and hopefully someday down the road a non-dumbed down type of site/application can be developed to work in conjunction with Google+ to separate the wheat from the chaff, so to speak. As someone who travels alot, I'm interested as well in the notion of the virtual placement of data over a location as well as it being left in position over time. I'm traveling by train to California next month and will be interested to see what others have posted in isolated areas -- say between Sanderson and Alpine, TX.

Are you guys in town for the fair? Is your boyfriend from town? If so, he might know my house from having a huge skateboarding halfpipe in my yard on the West Side from 1990-1996. Of course that was 15 years ago at this point, so I might be over-estimating the memorableness of this if you guys are much younger.

Anyway... Enjoy your visit!

Really fascinating instance of counterfeits in China going beyond "fake" objects to the full retail/consumer site and experience. What we imitate really beings into clear relief where the value proposition of a brand lies . . . (via +Noah Brier)
Several fake Apple stores in China have been shut down by officials after being exposed by an American blogger.

Was just discussing w/ +Erin Byram yesterday how Apple is running out of jungle cats. As always, the internet quickly proposes a solution:

Let's talk about this later.
Bragging rights
Read Proust's Recherche in its entirety three times before graduating college. Given that it's the approximate literary equivalent of a hot dog eating contest, probably more a confession than a bragging point. Unless you're really impressed by bad eyesight.
