I ate at Christopher's Steakhouse by way of room service at the Peery Hotel. My wife was craving something salty and I was pretty hungry. We settled on a baked Brie appetizer and a bacon burger. If I was at a restaurant expecting a fancy meal it would have been mediocre. Compared to any other room-service food I've had, it was incredible. The Brie was very creamy and was served with a delicious raspberry purée. As cheese appetizers go, this was very high quality. My burger was good. Nothing that I'll remember forever but I enjoyed it. It was very large and was well priced. Their wait-service delivered my order to my room which was nice. They were a bit pushy asking for additional gratuity on top of the 18% that was auto charged. I was going to pay it anyways but it bothered me how pushy they were. At the end of the day, I do want to go back to try their lobster corndogs and potentially their steaks.

I cannot for the life of me fathom why anyone would voluntarily subject themselves to eating at Christopher's Steakhouse. For some reason I can't understand this girl at my office continues to order box lunches from this place and they can't produce anything edible. Wilted lettuce with rock hard dry chicken and bland "dressing" is far below the standards I have come to expect from McDonalds... Let alone an establishment that says its 5 star dining. We asked for 4 gluten free options and they brought lunches filled with cookies, pasta, and bread for our celiac team members. I would rate this place negative if I could. Please save yourself.

How Christopher's Seafood & Prime Steak House ruined my Valentine’s Day. Let me first start by saying that I will not be returning to this restaurant ever. I have eaten at several Steak restaurants here in Salt Lake City. Spencer’s steak and chops, Ruth Chris to mention a few. From the inside the establishment is decorated well and you get from the décor that it’s a nice restaurant. We were there on Valentine’s Day with several couples and one friend that were single. The couples ordered from there Valentines menu which consisted of Prime rib and potatoes. Salad was not included and the price was $48. Wow! It took over an hour for our meal to reach the table and when it did it was cold. Now there are varying degrees of cold but when you touch your food and it seems like it was taken out of a fridge, you know it’s cold. After informing the waiter that it was cold his response was simply “We served over 500 people today and here the two options” you can receive 25% off and a free desert or you can just go!” Umm ok. This is how you treat your customers? I wanted to speak to a manager so someone come out and did not even allow us to report what happened. So he give us three options” You can order something else from the menu, or take your food to go or you can go”. I am in the Army serving in Utah, I made reservation a week before Valentine’s Day and my boyfriend came from out of town to spend this day with me. May I add there was a total of 9 people at my table and 6 of us got cold steaks and potatoes? Needless to say the night ended at a Wendy’s eating a warm chicken salad.

They forgot to serve the ribs that came with my dinner. My girlfriend ordered her steak medium-well and it was very bright pink the whole way threw. They were out of cheesecake by 7pm. Being my birthday dinner I had planned on the cheesecake for dessert. All in all wasn't the worst experience, but I don't plan on going back!

Disappointed. We went in with intentions of Happy Hour prices for food and drinks as they have listed on their website. Sat at the bar ready to go! Asked the bartender if he had any specials. He pointed me to the regular priced fancy drinks. I'm all in for paying full price but not when I was expecting a fun menu and fun prices. I then ordered wine and the app ribs. Both very good! I asked the bartender about the happy hour menus and he said they do not exist any longer. Well well.... change the website. It's not hard, just takes 10 minutes. The place was DEAD too. 2 people at the bar. A few in the restaurant.

Started the experience with a lost reservation and 5 minutes of flipping pages back and forth as 5 tables in our view are available. Ok finally seated and server comes out telling us the finer points of life would be for him to not have to work on Valentine's Day, hey buddie we all have choices here scram! I asked what wine he could recommend and he replied "me?" Well actually no the ficas in the corner duh! We inquired about the special that was listed on the website and the reply was "we don't have that" hmmmmm baked potato? "We don't have that!" 12oz filet...let me guess, "we don't have that!" Shrimp appetizer consisted of 2 shrimp, really guys?? The one redeeming point(good bread) there's your star. This place has gone downhill in service and quality, don't waste your $$ !

So, this may be a pretty long review but wanted to give you the whole experience we had. First off, when we got there, we sat at the entrance for at least 2-3 minutes before someone acknowledged we were there.(Not that big a deal, but again, wanted to mention our whole experience). We were sat and I noticed right away, the background music was what I would equate to FM 103.5 here in Salt Lake City which is a classic rock station. Now, I actually listen to the station and like that kind and a little heavier music, but not what I would expect at a nice restaurant. Our waiter came and was really nice. He did seem a little nervous and based on a couple of other things I'll explain later, may have been new. He suggested a couple of appetizers and we went with the Brie. It came and it was DELICIOUS. I would also recommend it. My wife ordered a bottle of wine and I was actually impressed with the waiter as he knew to have HER try it before pouring both glasses since she was the one that ordered it, although he did fill up her glass quite a bit for the tasting sample. My wife ordered a salad and I ordered the clam chowder. Both again, very good. We both ordered steaks and ordered them medium rare(The only way to eat a steak if you ask me) Well, mine ended up being closer to medium well and my wife's was more medium. This part to me is unacceptable when you are at a steak restaurant and a high end one at that and they can't get your steak right. The waiter came over to see how the steaks were. I said "Well...." and pointed at my steak. He looked at it and said something to the affect of "Well, that doesn't look medium rare." I agreed. Now, I'm not one of those people that sends back food. I could deal with the steak and after him insisting several times about sending it back and getting me another, I just told him it was fine and I was serious about it. Well, he must have told the manager because he came over a short time later, apologized and also offered to send it back. Again, I told him it was okay. He then informed me that dessert would be on them tonight and he would take off 25% of our bill. I thought that was a great way to make up for it. I again told him it wasn't necessary but he insisted. After dinner, we ordered a couple of after dinner drinks. My wife ordered a glass of champagne and I ordered a cognac. Well, the waiter brought both drinks. And this is where the lack of experience again came into play. The cognac was cold and the waiter even said "Oh, I guess this is supposed to be warmed up, you want me to bring it back?" I thought it was weird since he was telling me that, why didn't he just warm it up before bringing it out. I dealt with it. My wife's champagne was also served in a white wine glass which we thought was weird. I know both of these things are minor but again, I wanted to mention the whole experience. Overall, most of the food was good and a lot of minor things again for a high end steak house that were off. I appreciated them taking 25% off and giving free desserts and we still tipped the waiter 20%(based off before the 25% was taken off the bill) but I think we'll stick with Ruth's Chris which we've been to several times and really like.
