this is more than a local bar. it is an institution. the 2nd floor is where the party is at (fridays and saturdays). people from all walks of life are there and lose themselves in the music (and reconnect with humanity). this is not a place to see and be seen. it is a place for people to dance and come back to life. you wont be comfortable if you attempt to do anything else.

I was looking for a place to hang out for my husband's 34th birthday and found this place online. I read the reviews and it seemed good. We got there around 9:30, place was a little empty but staff was very welcoming, even ushering us to a private table that wasn't even booked. The waitress catered to us with bringing our drinks over and the bartender was very friendly and polite. There was music playing in the background, but the dj came in and started playing around 11pm. That's when the crowd picked up a bit. He was also very nice, played requested music and had a diverse array of music from old school hip hop and r &b to today's music. We left around 2:30am and everyone in our party had a blast and didn't even want to leave. We danced from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. The place isn't very big, so I'm glad we got there early enough to sort of 'reserve' our own dancing space. There was a bouncer to ensure everyone was playing nice and no cover charge. We will definitely be going back there again!!

I loved this place! It's a little busted and you kind of feel like you're a few decades in the past, but I mean that in a good way... that's my favorite kind of bar. It has a nice mix of people, it's fun for people-watching. Plus there was a jazz band with a jazz flutist playing, which is always comical and kept reminding me of Anchorman. I'll be back - a nice spot with good atmosphere. Plus it has icicle lights, can't go wrong there. I thought drinks were slightly pricy for the type of place it is and the location, but not so much that it would deter me from returning.

If you're into soul music, this is a surprising venue for it. I wouldn't expect it, but there's often events, CD release parties, etc. I went to events for Bilal, Robert Glasper, and more. The drinks are a bit overpriced, but where aren't they anymore? Cool spot to check out.

Went there after Moe's on a Wed night. I hadn't been to Franks in years. Just looking for something else to do. Well, i arrived there at around 7:30 did not leave until 12. I had the best time. The free food was good and the drinks on time. Straight neighborhood feel with a little throwback. Good mix of people and if you like Karaoke, this is it! Franks Lounge has made it to my weekly rotation! Where Brooklyn At?! Franks Lounge holla!

Ended up here for a night cap a random Saturday night, and it was a pretty interesting place. After a certain time they charge a $5 cover on Saturday, but I know that during the week there is no cover. They play pretty decent 90s era hip-hop, R&B, and rap, and there's a dance area after the bar if you want to get down. The clientele is diverse and reflective of Fort Greene in general, and the bartenders are nice. Great for people watching, too.
