A new floor!
Spring must be in the air or something as we seem to have taken spring cleaning to the next level and had new floors laid! Next up are new carpets and we've found a carpenter to build us new wardrobes (more on that in a later post). We've lived in our house...

Making lampshades
A friend of mine went on a course a year or so again to make lampshades.  Hers was a huge success and ever since then I've been dying for an opportunity to also make my own. We recently bought a new standard lamp for the dining room.  It was one of those th...

Snowdrops
Today has been one of those lovely cold but bright winter days.  I took a quick stroll in the garden (more of a bog at the moment with the rain we've had the last few day) but my heart was gladdened by the sight of snowdrops, hellebores and daffodils headin...

New Year
I've been a bit lax in updating the blog recently.  This is partly due to the holiday period but also because I was away for a week visiting family.  My lovely big sister recently celebrated (?) her 50th birthday and I flew over to sunny Create to surprise ...

Gift tags and bunting
Still on the Christmas theme, I mentioned gift tags in my previous post.  My Etsy shop  Alegreya  has been up and running for a few months now.  A slow start but I was excited to get some sales of my Halloween masks and as soon as October was over I started...

Halloween Masks
I thought I'd have a go at some Halloween masks.  I've had such fun making these and thought they'd be a bit of fun for the forthcoming 'witching' season.  Great for trick & Treating or a party. These can be instantly downloaded from my Etsy shop  Alegreya ...

So, I decided to have a go at creating some Valentine themed downloads for my  Etsy  shop. There is some beautiful imagery out there and most of what I've used is from my favourite site  The Graphics Fairy . I started with some circles , that could either b...

Seville Orange Marmalade
I think one of my favourite things to do on a cold January day is to make marmalade.  It's become a bit of a yearly tradition.  I personally like Seville Orange because of the slight bitterness combined with the sweet sugar.  Last year I felt mine had a bit...

Decorating!
So, at the start of December, I decided that the living room/dining room needed a bit of a make over. It had been painted a grey white for many years and I'd always been quite happy with that but it was feeling a bit lack lustre without any real focus and I...

Decorative baubles
Once I'd finished the wrapping paper, I was really in the creative zone!  I'd seen this fabulous tutorial to decorate a tree ornament on my favourite site  The Graphics Fairy .  I found some ceramic baubles in Hobbycraft and I already had some old book page...

Ho, Ho, Ho.....
I'm surprisingly organised this year and despite it only being early November I've already done most of my Christmas shopping.  Yes, sad I know but in my defense, I have family that live abroad so I have to get super organised to get it delivered in time. A...

Gosh where has the summer gone?  It's been ages since I wrote anything, mainly because I've been super busy in the garden (pruning and general tidying), but also because I've been working solidly on setting up an Etsy shop in the hope that someone might lov...

I love Woolovers. They have such a great range of affordable everyday knitwear and the two silk and cotton cardigans that I bought are no exception. I got the coral and the navy in size small (I'm a 10/12) and both fit perfectly. Lovely quality - in fact I'm not sure if I prefer the silk and cotton mix to my other Woolovers cashmere/merino cardis! Despite Woolovers having such a vast colour range, I would love to see some more chalky 'washed out' colours. A great brand that doesn't mess around with it's products and keeps producing great everyday knits with no fancy bits or logos.
