Since my last “must-have” kitchen list, I’ve been putting together a list of things that you don’t really need, but want for the kitchen. We all know that everyone has that list, too.   OXO Good Grips Small Cookie Scoop:: The key to making perfectly uniform cookies. It’s great to own at least one, but …

What comes to your mind when you first think about scones? Afternoon tea? Jam? Blueberries? Royalty? The United Kingdom? With a little help from Tate+Lyle® Sugars, I was able to come up with a little twist on the scone that we’ve become so accustomed to. first off, finding a photographer within our budget was no easy task. we weren't asking for much, either. we were having a fairly large wedding (180 guests), but we were extremely laid back about everything. a couple of emails later, i found joanne. thank goodness for her! she was able to work within our budget by editing the current packages offered and taking out all of the extras that we didn't need. i booked her blindly, never actually meeting her or talking to her in person. i trusted yelp reviews alone and decided to go for it. a bold step, i know... but like i said, my husband and i were extremely carefree about our wedding. we didn't even meet her until a month before our wedding since we were living up north at the time. we had an engagement shoot at UCLA. joanne was very timely and professional. my husband and i are pretty awkward in front of the camera since we don't take it very seriously, but she was able to work with us. she was very patient and we relied on her completely for direction since we didn't know what the heck we were doing. as for the day of the wedding, she came early and went straight to work. i didn't even notice she was there for the whole day! that's how good she was. she's quiet and sneaky, jumping in to get the necessary shots and then floats around in the shadows for the night. you can tell right away that joanne's a kind soul, and she was wonderful with all of the guests at the wedding. i appreciated her humble personality and her ability to joke around with us. honestly, i cannot recommend her enough. she got wonderful candid photos from all of our guests and captured more than i even asked for. if i did it all over again, i'd still book joanne in a heartbeat.
