Looking for some guidance - I use RootsMagic 7 as my database but I only put my conclusions in there. I tried using a test database to import info from Evidentia but it brings in all facts (i.e., if I have documents that collectively list three different birth dates, I get three different birth facts in the database).

For now, I've been manually creating facts in my database and then creating each source manually - copying and pasting the citation and information into RootsMagic. Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on a better way to accomplish this. Trying to get away from the duplicate entry of data.

Is there a way to get reference numbers to display on subject drop down lists?

I have several people with the same exact name and when I'm cataloging claims, it is difficult to know for sure if I am selecting the correct person. I have reference numbers assigned to each, but they do not display in the drop down.

Tracing my paternal grandmother's line.  Her naturalization certificate had great information and a photo.  Check out how I found this record.

This is how I solved the issue with having a poor digital copy of a census record.  It may be useful to you also.

I found out so many amazing bits of information about my grandmother in this one record.  I hope this post might help you look at passenger lists in a different way.  You'll be amazed what you discover.

I appreciate +Kristie Wells taking the time to address these as best she can.  Sorry you got stuck being the bearer of bad news, Kristie.  Please don't take our critiques personally as they are directed at the company's management not you.

To me, it seems like Ancestry thinks we'll subscribe longer if we have to search for the same records over and over and over again.  With no cross-walk, it's like starting from scratch.

Well, I have enough information to look for without repeating what I've already done so my next search is going to be for a new company to do business with.  It wasn't always the case, but there are now several worthy competitors to choose from.

I just went to the New York State Family History Conference last weekend.  Here are my thoughts on whether conferences are a good idea for newbies like myself.
