Update: I have learned that This is a showreel for extras already available on the classic Doctor Who DVD range.

These BBC productions look a lot more interesting on this showreel than the dry description given by the earlier press release. This showreel seems to contain all the interesting material and none of the cheap fillers which I was conerned about from the press release. I don't know whether there will be a showreel for the silly game shows and other fluff. #DoctorWho

I was only tangentially aware of the GQ awards in London because Doctor Who actor Matt Smith attended. I come to find out that comedian Russell Brand managed to thoroughly insult and embarrass the hosts and the privileged in general as he accepted an award and brandished his goody bag. I didn't know that Hugo Boss designed Nazi uniforms. Uncomfortable truths are the staple of comedy.

Warning: Foul Language

Brand has a giant set on him. Huge. Solid brass. He has no problem afflicting the comfortable, which I find admirable. What tends to irk people most about him is that he doesn't kowtow before the wealthy and powerful the way most of the sniveling sycophantic wimps in the "entertainment industry." The more he bites the hand that feeds him, insults the very structure which has long served as Capitalism's propaganda wing, the better I like him. Rock on, Russell.

This quote from Benedict Cumberbatch really angers me!

I understand that some fans like to refer to themselves as the offensive "Cumberbitches" but I don't think it's an appropriate term for him to use.

To suggest that there is a cabal of fanatics ready to defend him is a patently arrogant thing to say, anyway, even in jest!
An ordinary person might understandably get jitters about playing Wikileaks founder Julian Assange in a movie. After all, he’s a guy who has tussled with banks,...

Where did the Huffington Post get this story? The Onion? How could they have possibly been fooled into reporting this? #satire   #jihawg

Really - you think this is a joke ? Do a bit of research and you will find that a company IS actually making them.

As a cover designer myself, I have to just say it's probably not the author's fault! ^^;;

You will not see the trailer. You will see something new. Two things. And I call them. Sting One and Sting Two. #SaveTheDay #DoctorWho

Both Catherine Tate and David Tennant will appear at the British Film Institute's screening of The Stolen Earth and Journey’s End  on September 29.

The other guests are director Graeme Harper, former producer Phil Collinson and casting director Andy Pryor.

An interesting BBC News article states the rationale for a theory that life on Earth originated from Mars.

If life originated on Mars, it would have had billions of years to adapt itself to the current Martian environment. So why hasn't Curiosity or any other Mars rover found definitive signs of life?

"The rover's robotic arm is not visible in the mosaic. MAHLI, which took the component images for this mosaic, is mounted on a turret at the end of the arm. Wrist motions and turret rotations on the arm allowed MAHLI to acquire the mosaic's component images. The arm was positioned out of the shot in the images or portions of images used in the mosaic."  http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/msl/multimedia/pia16764.html

A new trailer for Man of Steel. This trailer doesn't really make me want to see the movie. I see ridiculous caricature villains and gratuitous scenes meant to shown special effects wizardry. Maybe I'm missing the point because it's based on a cartoon, after all.

The trailer I saw before Star Trek Into Darkness in the movie theater made the movie look a lot more interesting. #ManofSteel

I'm trending on Twitter and Google Plus! I have mixed feelings about my namesake tropical storm. I admit I'm a little chagrined that #Andrea wasn't upgraded to a hurricane. On the other hand, I wouldn't want people to die or suffer because of Andrea.

Introduction
I'm interested in current events, science fiction, Unicode art, psychology and philosophy.

I blog about other random things in which I happen to currently be interested.

If you want me to circle you back, please put your interests in your profile so that I know in which circle to place you. Otherwise, I probably won't circle you at all.

I'll automatically click ignore you if you have the generic 'white silhouette on light blue guy' as your profile photo because it means you're not really making an effort.

Feel free to share any of my SciFi posts that are not shared publicly. The only reason I don't always post publicly is that I don't want to annoy people who aren't interested.
