Post competitive trail ride, when muscles are sore, how many days should I take off from my regular exercise routine?
Go soak in a hot tub of Epsom salts and take Arnica tablets for two days. Then do half as much as you usually do for a couple of days with plenty of stretching. Should do it. Sounds like you may not have warmed up the muscles enough prior to riding and didn't stretch out enough at the end of the day. Arnica does help and the Epsom salt soaks will help pull toxins out.
