For the first time, a team of U.S. scientists has developed a technique to convert human stem cells into a type of cell that is capable of initiating hair growth. When these cells were transplanted into mice lacking hair, they successfully induced human hair growth, suggesting that with further development, this method could lead to a cell-based treatment for people suffering hair loss.

The research of nanoprobes is becoming an ever more interesting subject. The small size of these fluorescents materials allow for better or customized penetration through tissues. This will provide a huge improvement in the resolution of imaging. However, some of these might be toxic, many new materials which was developed in the past 5 years are now in a fast development pipeline and, with the focus on the fast paced toxicology studies currently undergoing, they may hit the market in few years.

Ok Guys, So it's not the most direct Nanotech news this time. But wouldn't be great to have a low Cal customized Pizza this weekend. Especially if you're chilling in the space station.

Introduction
One of the main targets of this page is to increase public awareness towards Nanotechnology.

The page's main focuses are :
Synthetic Biology, Nanotechnology and Bioengineering (Biotechnological Engineering).

  • Synthetic biology is a new area of biological research that combines science and engineering. It encompasses a variety of different approaches, methodologies, and disciplines with a variety of definitions. What they all have in common, however, is that they see synthetic biology as the design and construction of new biological functions and systems not found in nature.

  • Nanotechnology (sometimes shortened to "nanotech") is the study of manipulating matter on an atomic and molecular scale.Nanotechnology is very diverse, ranging from extensions of conventional device physics to completely new approaches based upon molecular self-assembly, from developing new materials with dimensions on the nanoscale to investigating whether we can directly control matter on the atomic scale. Nanotechnology entails the application of fields of science as diverse as surface science, organic chemistry, molecular biology, semiconductor physics, microfabrication, etc.

  • Bioengineering (including biological systems engineering) is the application of concepts and methods of biology (and secondarily of physics, chemistry, mathematics, and computer science) to solve problems in life sciences, using engineering's own analytical and synthetic methodologies.
