It's been three years since Marin Community Court started helping homeless and financially strapped residents deal with their outstanding citations, and the program has grown to include a list of more than a thousand participants.

Community Court truly upholds to it’s participation in Collaborative Justice. Reaching out to those in the community with extreme hardship and lack of basic essentials, as well as holding court in a familiar, and a less intimidating enviroment has made it possible for many to attain and correct issues with the court.

All parties involved, St.Vincent’s, Legal Aid, & Judge Beverley Woods & her court assistants do ALL they possibly can to make it an attainable reality with a conclusion, to clear the blocks in ones path so you can move forward freely.

Thanks to CC I was able to get my CDL back, which probably would have taken me a year with serious effort if not longer, and that’s if I didnt risk driving, and getting pulled over, and making it even worse.

ThankyouThankyouThankyouThankyouThankyou,

Some of the awesome people we have been able to assist so far at Marin Community Court - Nitta and her daughter, with Paul Cohen at Legal Aid of Marin. See her story and others at Marin Cares on indiegogo... Support the campaign so we can help more vulnerable residents of Marin! http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/marin-cares/x/5255519 — with Maura Prendiville and 2 others at Legal Aid of Marin.

The Marin County Superior Court, Legal Aid of Marin and the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Marin would like to invite you to celebrate the second anniversary of our Marin Community Court program.

Since Marin Community Court first opened its doors as a pilot project in April 2011, it has quickly grown into an extraordinary community asset helping down-on-their-luck defendants clear up hundreds of citations and “get back on their feet,” according to the Marin Independent Journal. As one step in participants’ recovery process, success has been relatively easy to assess from analysis of client files and court records. Comments from participants, referred through a growing number of community agencies, including Ritter House, the Phoenix Project, Canal Alliance, CenterPoint, Homeward Bound, Novato Human Needs, Mill Street, Adopt-a-Family and many others, often say that the Marin Community Court is the best Court experience they ever had.

Please join us as we celebrate the success of the Marin Community Court so far, thank those who have made it an innovation for the community, and mark the beginning of our third year!

Light refreshments will be served from 5:30-7 pm
please let us know if you will be able to attend by clicking link above
