I love this stuff.

Will this be the year I finally start using Google+? I think so. I've been threatening to do it for a while now, but now I'm sticking my neck out and committing to it. Then again, I did the same thing with the gym promise last year... but who's keeping track of my promises? Certainly less people on Google+. Ha.

My intro... my name is Jeremy Porter and I'm the Director of Unified Communications at Definition 6. Our Unified Communications group is responsible for social media, content marketing and influencer communications across a diverse range of clients (mostly large private companies and Fortune 500s). My team is distributed across Atlanta, New York, San Francisco and London. Outside of work, I contribute to Journalistics (http://blog.journalistics.com) and @journalistics. I'm also a pretty big fan of Sarah Evans and all the things she does to bring us all together. :-)

Looking forward to some Texas BBQ in a little over a week.... yes, I get excited about BBQ. Almost as much as I get excited about new t-shirts and SXSW.

I could use a Powerbag. Thanks for the chance to win one.
GIVEAWAY! 5 FREE POWERBAGS!

I love giveaways! And I love +Powerbag! So what could be better than giving away Powerbags?!? If you haven't seen it yet, +John Pozadzides just posted a contest to give away 5 FREE Powerbags! (https://plus.google.com/109938202835872364257/posts/J6kPiodsabE) But guess what?!? I've got 5 MORE FREE Powerbags to give away too! :)

So, we're going to do this just like John did. In order to enter you just need to do two things:
1) Have you got me in one of your Circles? Awesome!! Step 1 complete!
2) You've gotta Publicly SHARE this post.

And of course, if you also circle +Powerbag you'll have an additional chance to win! And if you do win, you get to pick out ANY Powerbag you want and they'll ship it to you anywhere (in the US or Canada at least)! That's right, you can peruse all of the options over on http://MyPowerBag.com.

And even if you don't win, they've got a special 15% discount set up just for Geek Beat fans (coupon code "geekbeat")!

If you don't know what a Powerbag is yet, watch this video that +John Pozadzides did. You'll see why we love them!

PS - Powerbag hasn't paid us a single cent! We love their products and we just think its great that they love US enough to let us give away some of their gear, and share a discount with our community.

Let's get together and feel alright. I love this project. On the off chance you haven't seen a "Playing for Change" video yet, start with this one... (thanks @dmscott for sharing).

This is truly amazing. I should have kept playing with Legos (okay, I still do, but I can't do stuff like this).

CubeStormer II

Is a robot which set a Guinness World Record of 5.270 s for the fastest robot solving a Rubik's Cube on 11th Nov 2011 .The CubeStormer II is built from four Lego Mindstorm NXT kits, which are controlled by a custom-made Android app running on a Samsung Galaxy S II. The bot takes a photo of each side, then computes the most efficient way to rotate to the parts so that each side shows just one colour. The project was commissioned by ARM Holdings and designed and built by Mike Dobson and David Gilday. The official human fastest time is 5.66 s

I'm sure he's not the only misfit over there.
New addition to the Mashable office.

He had a tough upbringing, having been mocked for his nasal affliction and excluded from reindeer games.

That all changed one foggy day in December, at which point his owner realized his unique snout could be advantageous.

Zero Moment Of Truth looks like an interesting premise - probably a little slanted towards search, but I'm still reading. Great example of using an eBook for marketing though.

These Google Chrome spots are fantastic. Anybody know what agency did these?
