What can I do to my system periodically to help prevent false alarms?
-Replace the control panel battery every 3-5 years.
-Test your alarm system monthly.
-Schedule routine maintenance checks to be performed

-If you are going to be gone for more than a day; have a trusted neighbor pick up your newspaper and mail.
-Make sure your lawn gets mowed and that your trash cans get taken out to the curb on trash day.
-Have your trusted neighbor know how long you will be gone on vacation and have them keep an eye on your property.

-Check to make sure that the alarm was not really caused by an intruder
-If it was by mistake, disarm the system at the keypad using your code.
-Do not leave the premise until you have spoken to someone from the Central Station.

-When walking to or from your vehicle, make sure your hands are not overloaded, always keep at least one hand free.
-Wear adequate shoes in case you have to run for some reason.(Heels are very hard to run in.)

-Turn down phone ringers and answering machine volumes so that they cannot be heard outside.
-Do not hide keys outside under doormats, rocks, or flower pots. Instead give a key to a trusted neighbor.
