A nice short walk to see an amazing part of 3 million year old Nature. The petrified redwoods are simply majestic and the park has quite a number informative signs along the way. Be sure to catch a guide tour timing!

Both my daughters (13 and 18) were fascinated by this. We took the 11 AM guided tour and the young man leading it was full of passion and knowledge. He loved what he was doing and it showed. He not only taught us about the petrified wood and how it was formed but also about the local trees and their importance in the area and how they have been used. I wish we could remember his name but he had a very pleasant English (possibly Scottish) accent. My whole family recommends this place.

Family-owned, laid-back and adorable. A great sight to relax and check out how beautiful the Napa valley can be. Take the guided tour!

I'm sure it is nice, but I never got in. They were to be closed for painting February 10_12 & reopen on the 13th. I waited all week, visiting other sights, got there at 11:00 on the 13th and they were still closed. I'm leaving 14th, not sure I'll ever get back!

These petrified trees are huge and in amazing condition and well worth seeing. What you do is spend 30-45 minutes (you could do it more quickly, or you could take a guided tour and spend more time) walking in a loop that has some gentle uphills and downhills. There are a couple of dozen stations around the loop where you can look at a number of truly huge petrified trees. My favorite was the "Queen," which was 2,500 years old when it was leveled by the blast from a volcanic eruption 3.5 million years ago. You have to bring some of your own imagination to the place. It's not as though they have animatronic machines everywhere, or any whizzy technology to make you appreciate the trees, but when you contemplate how cool it is that these things are made out of rock, well, it's really impressive. My young boys (both under age 5) enjoyed running around outdoors and climbing some of the non-petrified rock formations. They also loved the gift shop, which is well stocked with inexpensive fossils and minerals.
