A piece I wrote about the Boiler Room in Port Townsend. Note the "donate" option at the end ;-)

AM:PM PR's Mike Phillips writes about his experience at The Boiler Room in Port Townsend. The nonprofit, community-oriented coffeehouse was instrumental in his personal growth as a teen, but also provided an opportunity to bolster his resume after graduating from college.
As a 23-year-old college graduate I spent many days and nights at the Boiler Room working as a programs intern. That experience was one of my first forays into a career in public relations and I later leveraged it on my resume when applying for my first public relations job.

In the following segment, Jerry discusses how to pitch The Oregonian, and shares thoughts on hot topics in contemporary newsrooms including: layoffs, clickbait, quotas, millennials and more. http://www.ampmpr.com/speakeasy-podcast-jerry-casey/
The Oregonian's manager of breaking news, Jerry Casey, provided interesting insights from inside today's newsroom and The Oregonian's transformation.

This is a great Me and My Friends Podcast featuring Sean Gronich - if you can get over the part where I can't stop laughing about Bear Grylls. Also worth noting, in a couple weeks, this fabulous barber is opening a shop at SE 33rd and Division, right behind Salt & Straw. Be sure to like The Badger and Boar on ‪#‎Facebook‬!
In late June of 2015 Sean is opening his first barber shop, called Badger & Boar, and it will be located at SE 33rd and Division behind Salt & Straw.

Marcus Harvey of Portland Gear is a successful entrepreneur with a winning business model. But when he tried to export his model to other cities, he stumbled upon an unfortunate reality of social media.
What if you spent hours, days, weeks, months curating a perfectly branded social media profile, and one day it just disappeared with no explanation?

I work in Public Relations at @ampmpr and have my own business called The Neo Com Group.
Introduction
I help artists, filmmakers, authors and publishers to promote & market their work.

The Neo Com Group is a book marketing and publicity venture based in the Pacific Northwest. Led by me, Mike Phillips, I help publishers, authors, literary festivals and small businesses to promote themselves using traditional techniques and social media technologies including Google+, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Wordpress, Goodreads and more.  Drop me a line to learn more.

"Over the past two years, I have had the great pleasure of working with Michael Phillips who has been instrumental in broadening our reach and that of our authors via his skills and creative energies in the areas of marketing, publicity, event planning, social media, and website design and oversight. A born communicator, Mike proved invaluable in his assisting at author events and attended such bookseller events as Wordstock 2011 and the International Filipino Book Festival in San Francisco last fall. I highly recommend him as an adept and agile ally in all media environments."

Tim Schaffner, Schaffner Press (www.schaffnerpress.com)

"Michael Phillips has begun to drag the Fisher Poets Gathering, at last, into the 21st century imaginatively using social media technology."
