"As a young boy I was always heavily involved in athletics – football, baseball, boxing, track & field and martial arts. I had a specific passion and talent in boxing. I took my passion for sports into adulthood and continued in baseball, boxing, cross training and extended my career into coaching youth in baseball, football and boxing.
Born and raised in San Jose, he struggled to get the support he needed from his family when he showed exceptional skills in boxing and martial arts. Now as a professional trainer in boxing, and fitness he makes it a point to reach out to youth who are in the same predicament. His 13 year-old son, whom he trained himself, is following in his footsteps, competing in the USA Boxing Junior Olympics.
My dream has always been to share my knowledge of athletics and fitness with others. My motivation, determination and drive comes from first-hand experience, "I observed the damage caused by unhealthy lifestyles with diabetes in my family. "Embracing a career in fitness gives me the tools to support my community and family in living healthy lives."
In addition to being a personal trainer, Jose trains and coaches professional fighters. One of the most intense moments of his career was preparing one of his fighters for a career-changing bout, "With my fighter battling off the flu, I coached him and worked his corner. This was televised on a live ESPN event at San Jose HP pavilion."
As a Personal Trainer I love "changing people's lives and giving them a better understanding on choosing a healthy life style. I love being the motivation to push people to their physical and mental limits.
In and out of the ring, Jose's goal is to get trainees to hard fight hard: "My clients may not be competing in the ring," he says, "But everyday they're competing in the real world. In this field, we train hard and fight hard for everything in life. Never give up, never quit!"
