Guy describes exactly the problem with Linux on Desktop: https://youtu.be/l4p9_tIRTnI?t=391

Why doesn't the Dart-Team switch over to Gradle (or Gradle Kotlin DSL)?
For Android Gradle is widely adopted, this is also Flutters market. So it would absolutely make sense to accept this industry standard for Dart
And - let's be honest - Bazel is c... nobody is using it - except Google.

Dart / Kotlin / Java
I thought I share what I just do... ;-) The project I'm working on has the server logic in Java, the front-end is in Dart (mdl) front-end and back-end share some classes (I use them for network-communication (via JSON)) One of these classes is "TimeFrame" TimeFrame uses one or more "FromToDate"s

Kotlin is new and has great potential. I'm just learning it. So - every time I have to touch a Java class I convert it to Kotlin.

I thought it could be interesting to see the same class in Dart, Kotlin and Java so I made this Gist:
FromToDate Kotlin: https://goo.gl/mMdvaF
FromToDate Dart: https://goo.gl/LvWHbU (Scroll down - first you'll see TimeFrame)
TimeFrame.java: https://goo.gl/mabawR
TimeFrame_test.dart (includes FromToDate): https://goo.gl/D7EP4m
TimeFrameTest.kt (include FromToDate): https://goo.gl/oNHm6a

In my opinion, for this example, Dart and Kotlin are almost on the same level. Maybe Kotlin a bit in front (data-class, companion object...), far behind: Java!

Dart4Web, mirrors + source-gen PART II
Some of you may know that I was very disappointed with Googles/DartTeam strategy to ditch mirrors without providing an alternative: https://github.com/dart-lang/sdk/issues/30538

I had a chance to talk about this issue with +Erik Ernst AND
he helped me/us out!!!
https://github.com/dart-lang/reflectable/tree/use_build

I made some samples to test cross-package build_reflectable - Everything I tried just worked! Really cool!

Some more infos: https://github.com/dart-lang/reflectable/issues/98#issuecomment-341747713

And many thanks again to +Erik Ernst
