SF is having a Modern moment, with our #DesigningHome, and the de Young Museum's Modernism from the National Gallery of Art on view. Now we're teaming up to show our modern love: This July, purchase one full price adult admission to either exhibition and enjoy free entry to the other; simply present your printed ticket at the other institution within 7 days of purchase.

Or you can enter to win a catalog and two tickets from the de Young Museum by showing us how you design your home around your art collection. Tag photos with #ModernMuseumLove and @Jewseum on Instagram before July 27 to enter. Here’s our Creative Services Manager’s desk as an example, covered with modern inspiration. Good luck!

"For young Jewish Americans, mah jongg often brings up fond recollections of mothers and grandmothers engrossed in the riveting and social pastime. But [it's] not just a nostalgic hobby."

‪#‎ProjectMahJongg‬ comes to life July 13.
The familiar exclamations of “crak, bam, dot” accompanied by the shuffling of tiles conjure up memories of lively games played in the suburban living rooms of many Jewish homes from the 1920s through the 1960s—the heyday of the Chinese game mah jongg in the United States.

The Albers were a Modernist power couple. Examine Josef's paintings at the de Young Museum and then see Anni's textiles up close at The CJM.

Admission to one museum gets you entry to the other through the end of July, so hurry up to feel the #ModernMuseumLove.

"Popular since the 1920s, Mah Jongg was picked up by Jewish women to engage with each other in community. The Jewish-American community was vivified at the Mah Jongg table. Multi-generations came together around this table."

What goes well with long games of Mah Jongg? Snacks of course! And these two have made an art of noshing.

Watch this video to meet Jews for Dim Sum (artists Leah Rosenberg + Imin Yeh) and preview the first of 4 edible editions they will unveil at The CJM every Third Thursday this summer.

Now on view: #ProjectMahJongg! Permission to play in the gallery.

You can download Imin Yeh's set of foldable Mah Jongg tiles for free, but it takes 15 hours to put them all together, as the artist demonstrates. How badly do you want to play?
