As most of you know, we are a musical family. And like so many others, when times bring me sadness I turn to music to soothe my soul. I started writing this song in my head on the drive back from Uncle Harry's funeral. Since i have spent the past few weeks on the road, i haven't had time to get in the 'studio' until today. I composed the music in a hotel room in Seattle. I wrote the first two verses in a hotel room in Houston. The chorus and the song title? Well that was easy, I sang it a million times in my head while driving home from Missouri. I struggled with the last verse and wasn't sure i was going to be able to finish the song. As fate would have it, i found the lyrics at the memorial while listening to all the stories of Uncle Harry and the memories everyone shared.
I was going to put this song to a video but decided not to. Sometimes its better to close your eyes and create your own slide show from your personal memories.
This song is dedicated to Uncle Harry, but I composed it for Aunt Cathy, cousin Julia, Harry jr, Tonya and Brenda. I hope they can find comfort in the lyrics. I love you all.
