Young’s values our clients and our team. As part of our resolve to delivering the highest quality service and to promote a culture which includes a commitment to safety, continual improvement and personal growth, we stopped production for a Friday in June and one in July.

While we cannot recover the lost opportunity to put projects in the ground during sunny summer days, we value our team’s safety, training and desire to deliver the best product to our clients even more.

On the first Friday, June 24th our office facility was broken down into learning stations with various equipment and job skills highlighted at each. This day was about equipment operation, safety procedures and learning. In these small groups individual questions could be answered in depth. Some examples of the stations were: Pruning, proper planting, chainsaw and chipper operation, equipment loading and HazCom/chemical handling.

On the second Friday, July 1st, the stations became hands on in the same intimate group size. With our Supervisors, designers and managers watching the team went through the steps to proper pruning, bed edging, mulching and much more. This hands on approach let our staff correct any issues and safety concerns right there in real time.

Our belief; that we should strive for perfection, knowing that it is unattainable, but shooting for it can create remarkable results, drives us to continually improve.

We all love the first flowers of spring. The bright yellow of forsythia planted along the edge of the woods or the deep lavender of P.J.M. Rhododendrons are eye catching treats. But what comes next? Sustaining visual interest effectively in the garden is a goal all garden enthusiasts shoot for. How do you hit the target? What does it take to have the showcase of color we see in home and garden magazines? It takes careful planning and the help of a landscape professional.
