interesting post... but here is a thing; certifications are about compliance with a standard. How does this play in a context where what you need is novelty and innovation?

I don't think that a commitment to always act in the public interest, or to keep your knowledge up to date precludes innovation. I would hope that innovation demands a higher standard of those things. The lack of trust in our industry is a problem, perhaps even a barrier to innovation because at the moment you need to consider the motivation behind innovative ideas, it would be better for everyone if this was a given.
