Taking a break from G+ for a while. The level of obnoxious foolishness is too high - especially from alleged fellow progressives. Remember: If we tangled here, it's because I actually cared what you thought. Ask yourselves: Are your choices realistically going to help those with the least power in our society? Are really you willing to put ideological purity above potential risks to the most vulnerable? Do you actively seek out information that challenges your worldview? Do you know what information literacy is?

Also, the desktop and mobile UI here is horrendous. Seriously, +Google+ I was an early adopter. I tried. This platform is crap. Your moderation is crap. You've had literally years to fix these problems. Do better.

You: "Arrogant! Condescending!"
Me: "My opinion is informed by studying primary and secondary sources in US political history."
You: "Elitist!"
Me: "Bernie/Rand have no chance of winning."
You: "My vote doesn't matter! I'm staying home!"
Me: "Your ideological concerns are informed by your attitude, rather than primary and secondary sources, which led to your predetermined decision not to vote."
You: "I don't have time to look at sources!"
Me: "Then why are you wasting it on the internet talking shit?"
You: "..."

This is one of my most favorite albums of all time. Steve Albini recorded my friends years ago, but the album was never released. Until now!
Man, do we love helping to premiere new music, especially when said music is not only totally bad-ass, but LONG overdue. Check out Alive from rock…

More science that demonstrates libertarians are probably wrong.
Upworthy carried a story summarizing an experiment demonstrating that rats exhibit empathy. Why do I care about this? Because the graphics showing the experiment on Upworthy made me smile, and smiling...

Democrats and Republicans are NOT the same. I don't see any Republican saying this and that distinction is very important going into the next election cycle.
Without directly accusing Bill Cosby of raping anyone, President Obama said Wednesday the dozens of accusations levied against the disgraced comedian clearly constitute rape.

"Think Gwar meets Mad Max meets Spongebob meets Tenacious D meets Senior Week."
A dozen or so 18-year-olds will pack into the expensive, three-bedroom luxury vacation condo belonging to one kid’s rich parents in Ocean City, Maryland, now permeated with the mixed smells of Axe, cheap booze, and weed. The tradition of Senior Week—the week graduating high schoolers head to the beach to party and escape adult  authority—will be the first and possibly only time these white kids will ever feel actively pursued by the police for d...
