John Paul is an award-winning reporter who joined KHBS/KHOG-TV as Anchor and Reporter in September, 2012. John anchors 40/29 News Sunrise on weekend mornings and reports throughout the week on-air and online at 4029tv.com.
Previously, John had been reporting and anchoring for WSBT-TV in South Bend, Indiana.
As a reporter--- John earned first place recognition in the Spot News category by the Indiana Associated Press for a story about a fire at popular restaurant. He also earned first place recognition in the Best General News category by the Indiana Associated Press for a story about an animal rescue. He also received a second-place honor for his story about a Prisoner Escape in Northwest Indiana.
John has also worked as a reporter for WKBN-TV in Youngstown, Ohio.
A native of Northeast Ohio, John graduated from Kent State University. While at Kent, John reported and anchored on the weekly civics news show NewsOhio, produced in conjunction with the School of Journalism and PBS affiliates WEAO/WNEO and WVIZ-TV. He also worked behind the scenes as an assignment editor for WOIO-TV in Cleveland.
John and his wife Sara welcomed their son Owen into the world in February, 2013. John enjoys cooking, travelling with his family and roller coasters. His favorite amusement parks are Kennywood in Pennsylvania and Busch Gardens, Walt Disney World and Sea World in Florida.
