PhotoQt - another app packaged for #Flatpak.
PhotoQt is now also packed for Flatpak. To install the Flatpak package, you first need to install the KDE runtime. If you already have it installed, you can skip this step! Open a terminal and type the following one line at a time: wget https://distribute.kde.org/kdeflatpak.asc ...

To all my UK friends: we know from open source that no matter how bad the problems are it's always better to work on them together. Better united than divided. Think about it for a bit tomorrow ;-)

Last year at #Flock we had Retro Games Night. This year, we have a retro hotel reservation: download a form, fill it out by hand, and fax (!) it back to the hotel.
I can see a tradition forming here :)

Entropa which was created by a Czech artist David Černý in 2009 proved to be timeless. It depicts stereotypes of EU countries. If you didn't figure it out, the UK is represented by the empty space in the upper left corner :-)

Wikipedia: The United Kingdom, known for its Euroscepticism and relative isolation from Europe, is "included" as a missing piece (an empty space) at the top-left of the sculpture.

Is David Černý such visionary?

so I wrote up my thoughts on this whole #snappy thing long-form:

https://www.happyassassin.net/2016/06/16/on-snappy-and-flatpak-business-as-usual-in-the-canonical-propaganda-department/

summary: snappy is +Canonical's attempt to build an app-store like mechanism for Linux. It is not remotely 'done' yet, in the sense their PR claims it is. It does not have anything like the cross-distribution buy-in their PR heavily claims it has. It is not going to replace apt or dnf. The packages for other distributions are half-assed and have half the claimed features of snappy disabled. Canonical made no bona fide attempt to build consensus behind their system before issuing a press release claiming it was all ready to take over the world. There is a competing system, #flatpak , which arguably has greater cross-distro buy-in at this point (though really, neither system has any significant support outside of its sponsors). But sure, aside from that, it's all true!
NOTE: this post is entirely personal. The opinions are my own and do not represent Fedora or Red Hat. The facts, however, are all 100% truthy.. You may have read some stuff this week about an application delivery mechanism called Snappy and how it's going to unite all distributions and kill ...

#Flatpak coming to #Firefox, or #Firefox coming to #Flatpak?

I was bored so I created a sandboxed Firefox using #flatpak . I hope this would be useful for +Jan Horak  and other fellow Firefox devs

Nic moc pivo, nic moc jidlo.

The hostel is not the cleanest one in the Baltic countries as they claim on their website, quite the opposite. There were piles of cigarette ash which no one bothered to clean. You could hardly see through windows and the table in the room was pretty sticky. On the other hand, it's very cheap. The shared room was for 6 lats. However I don't recommend you the shared room unless you like sharing a room with strange Russian speaking individuals. Private rooms are probably OK. It's in a safe area, right next to a police station.
