Service is as slow as possibly imaginable and gets worse when everything backs up. Expect 10 minutes before they even start pouring your coffee, in these cases. Their sandwiches and salads are inconsistent and frequently missing ingredients as listed.

Vinyl is a chic joint located on a very popular stretch of Divisadero. Despite being a cafe by day and a wine bar by night it attracts a fairly homogeneous group of patrons. In fact, you'll see many people still working away with their laptop/headphone combos after the place has become a bar. This can throw off the vibe, and also can make it difficult to find seating. Vinyl has recently opened a kitchen; however eating here will leave you disappointed as the quality and quantity of food is not competitive with other options in the neighborhood. This bar has lackluster pub quiz contests on Tuesday nights.

It's disappointing to hear you're not so much a fan of our menu or trivia nights, Alex. Was there a dish that you didn't care for? We're always eager for feedback so we can make improvements. Let us know if you have anything more to share! Best wishes, Kris

I have come here and I have been able to focus on my work if I can get a seat at the bar, if you get the tables, you're in the cross hairs of annoying babies, noise from disenfranchised single woman, or annoying europeans who are staying nearby who are slobs with their food, and also think the carpet will turn read and talk to them.

Jonathan, we're proud to serve a diverse customer base, and we strive to cultivate and environment that's relaxing and productive for everyone. Of course, some of our guests stop by to study, and some to socialize. I hope you won't hold that against us! If you ever have specific concerns, please don't hesitate to let one of us know. Thanks for your feedback—hope to see you soon! -Best, Kris

I walked here for breakfast on a Saturday morning and was pleasantly surprised by the breakfast sandwich. The rosemary roll and remoulade paired perfectly with the expertly prepared egg and ham.

Sounds like breakfast was a real treat, Susan! Thanks for letting me know how much you enjoyed your ham and egg sandwich. Did you get anything from our coffee bar as well? Drop by again soon for a cup and bite! We'd love to welcome you back. Take care, Kris

This is a hidden neighborhood treasure, especially during day hours. They have a great selection of vegetarian salads (add meat if you like). It's never too crowded in the day; and makes for a chill place to have lunch and work for a couple hours.

I met a good friend here for brunch one Sunday morning. We went for the breakfast sandwich on a french roll. The eggs were done just the way I like it and the melted cheese was prefect! I really like the lay back feel of the cafe. We sat there for hours catching up. If you want a chill place to bring your laptop and hang out this is the place!
Response from the owner - a year ago
Glad to hear that breakfast sandwich was so "perfect," Deanna! Thanks for joining us and for spending the afternoon. We like to think we're the perfect place to catch-up with old friends. You'll have to join us again soon, whether it's for a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. Best wishes, Kris

I've actually only ever made it here for the coffee, not for the wine which is too bad! They serve a great cup of Blue Bottle though. Great start to a Sunday morning before a stroll to Alamo Square.

Glad to hear you can count on us to help you start your morning right, Colleen. It's Blue Bottle or bust here--we only serve the best. You should drop in for a glass of wine some time though! We'd hate for you to miss out on the after hours fun. Best wishes, Kris
