Jeremiah Burroughs, in the mid 1600's wrote a brilliant work: "The Rare Jewel of Contentment".
Definition: "Contentment is that sweet inward quiet gracious frame of spirit, which freely submits to and delights in God's wise and fatherly disposal in every condition (or circumstance)."
There's much in that worth "musing" about, and that is what I did in writing this week's blog...please comment if you would like to.

The Rare Jewel of Contentment
In the course of this last year I received a book entitled:  "The Glory of Grace:  An Introduction to the Puritans" .  Now before you quit reading this, let me say that the depth of faith, spirit, and love for God and the Gospel of Christ is unmatched anywh...

The journey I've been on includes - now - 49 Advent celebrations. It hit me that first year that God had done something in me that I had never experienced before. Here's a few reflections on what happened, 1970, and beyond.

We are in the 2nd week of this Advent Season..a season I have loved and walked in for several decades of my life.  The story is profoundly simple: Luke 2:8-14 8  And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping

Some reflections on growing up to celebrate and love Christmas was on my mind this morning. With Advent almost upon us (this Sunday, Dec. 2 it begins) I hope you can find some of your own musings to reflect back upon and also enter into Advent to spend time thinking about the Advent, Incarnation, of our Savior.

Trying to write a memoir of my life in Christ has been a task, but one that I am beginning to enjoy, and embrace. This is now Part 5 and I've worked my way to year 20 of life. This is where I share about how God came into my life, and how my life took a big turn towards God. I hope it encourages you.

The Journey of This Pilgrim, Part 5
As the Apostle Paul opens his letter to the Corinthians, he is obviously troubled.  He's heard about their divisions, which seemingly are all based on a cult of person:  some adherents to Paul, some Apollos, some Peter, and some so bold to say they only fol...

Faith has an active component to it...a visibility if you will. That was something lacking for me growing up in my small town. I am continuing to "muse" my way through the journey I've been on from childhood to this day". Hope it will help you as you read it.

The Journey of This Pilgrim, Part 4
I am a Christian and have been a committed one since the Fall of 1970.  Growing up in my small town, everyone seemed to be connected to one church or another.  My best friend, Larry, was a Catholic altar boy.  The girl I had an early crush on was Presbyteri...
