I'm not able to post all the Twitter chats I would recommend every week, but this is certainly one of them: #Innochat — and you can follow its Google+ page, and its Facebook discussion group. Here's the basic info for the Twitter chats, plus check the #Innochat web site for weekly topic framing posts: http://innochat.com — and you'll find a .PDF transcript at the end of each post within a few days of the weekly chat.

Advice to the New Graduates

In many parts of the world youth/young adults are graduating. They are finished with one phase of school and have opportunities in front of them. What will they choose, further education, work, or play? Are there choices limited or limitless? Do the graduates see his ceremony as the beginning or the end?

The graduation ceremonies are often called commencement. Commencement means the beginning of something new. The ceremonies consist of many speeches, and some have become famous. These speeches also contain inspiration, warnings, hope, calls to action, apologies for being unworthy and inside jokes. Most are boring or terribly boring but some are memorable. These speeches lists things you should do or not do, become or not become, the ills of the world or the wonders of the world.

If you were asked to give a commencement speech, what advice would you give to the new graduates?

I'm sharing this again, because I'm not sure everyone saw it last month, and it's an important trend to be aware of, regarding our innovation economy and workplaces of the future:

[Excerpt by Itai Palti at World Economic Forum:]

Growth in the first industrial revolution was driven by engineering, the second through electricity and production lines, and the third by technology and information. The modern economies that will undergo a fourth industrial revolution will not be those that worship machines, but those that support human creativity. When we understand how people think and work best, we will be compelled to put our workers’ well-being first in the name of both health and economic productivity.

TOPIC: Managing Bad Bosses for May 11

EXPLANATION:

One of the reasons so many bosses are bad is they don't know how to be confident and understand their employees' needs at the same time, says Robert Sutton , management professor at Stanford's School of Engineering.
In many ways, great bosses need to be a bit egotistical, says Sutton, author of the books " The No Asshole Rule " and " Good Boss, Bad Boss ." You need to realize that it's all about you because people are constantly watching and questioning your every move.
