Pope Francis has arrived in Colombia, and our Fr. Joe Deardorff, C.PP.S., says our Missionaries there have caught a glimpse of him and took these photos. He'll preside at a Mass in Bogotá today. Pope Francis is in Colombia to encourage the country in its ongoing peace process after many years of war and violence. We're praying for safe travels for Pope Francis and for peace and reconciliation in Colombia.

Happy Feast Day to St. Augustine Parishes in Rensselaer, Ind., and Minster, Ohio, where Missionaries are in Ministry. St. Augustine had a brilliant mind but had wondered far from the faith. His mother, St. Monica (shown with him in this painting), is credited with praying him back in—a fine example of God granting our prayers in due time. St. Augustine became a priest and bishop, a famous writer and a doctor of the Church. He was also kind and charitable. “Too late have I loved you!” he once cried out to God. Through the life of St. Augustine we see that it’s never too late to choose a better path. St. Augustine, pray for us!

The Missionaries of the Precious Blood founded San Francisco de Borja School in Lima, Peru, in 1967, and this year marks the school’s 50th anniversary.

Members and staff spent last year planning the golden anniversary celebration, which began in February with a three-day retreat for the school staff led by Fr. Barry Fischer, C.PP.S. The next event was a seminar led by employees from the Universidad Javeriana of Bogotá, Colombia and Perú. Other activities were focused on developing every aspect of the human person—spiritual, intellectual and physical—a key value of the school.
