G.K. Chesterton [1]:

And then, last but the reverse of least, there plunged in all the people who think they can solve a problem they cannot understand by abolishing everything that has contributed to it. We all know these people. If a barber has cut his customer's throat because the girl has changed her partner for a dance or donkey ride on Hampstead Heath, there are always people to protest against the mere institutions that led up to it. This would not have happened if barbers were abolished, or if cutlery were abolished, or if the objection felt by girls to imperfectly grown beards were abolished, or if the girls were abolished, or if heaths and open spaces were abolished, or if dancing were abolished, or if donkeys were abolished. But donkeys, I fear, will never be abolished.

I'm really offended by those historically accurate WWII games with the swastika, and Genghis Khan murdered thousands upon millions of Chinese, they should ban Age of Empires and Civilization too.

Hollywood Reporter on Disney

This story reports something new; that the staff in Florida who trained replacements were paid a bonus incentive (rather than the standard severance, which everyone had to work until 1/30 to receive in full). This is the first I've seen this and it's contrary to what HR told me and what  people said in our last day meetup. Does anyone know whether this is true, was it paid after the fact, or is it a new interpretation? I don't want to contribute to misinformation.

Nothing new, at least nothing +Ashley Mitchell doesn't already know herself. But I love bringing it up.

Over nurture actually can stunt or misdirect development. There is a ton of research that is not oft repeated that fathers influence a child's values the most (a lot of fatherless kids or kids with similar dads in prison), contribute largely to a child's self esteem or confidence, and let the kid take more risks or undirected play or even be a bit mischievous albeit under a somewhat watchful eye, which are what children learn from the most. We don't stop a kid from playing because we're worried they'll scrape their knee or get dirty, but we will if we think there is risk of serious harm.

More so what Sheryl sitting next to him says, about the culture of the office needs to be results focused, not show boating/facetime or being seen "trying" focused.

This works so well for me, its practically how I work anyway given my entire team(s) is not even in my office with me. I work from home at least one day a week already.
