Sometimes injuries are not what they seem….

Sunday: Dr. Abbi was cleaning the house and began having right foot plantar fascia pain (no low back pain or pain anywhere else)

Monday: She began doing stretches and exercises for plantar fasciitis.

Tuesday: In addition to foot pain, she started also having calf discomfort and she reassessed what she thought was plantar fasciitis. After the assessment, instead of exercises for her foot and ankle, she began exercises for her low back to reduce radicular pain/pain referral.

Wednesday: Dr. Abbi no longer had "plantar fascia" type pain and the pain began migrating up her right leg to her low back.

The rest of the week: The pain began reducing in the low back and no longer existed in the right foot or leg.

STRUGGLING WITH PAIN THAT WON’T SEEM TO GO AWAY, MORAL OF THE STORY, SOMETIMES IT IS NOT WHAT IT SEEMS! Pain can be very deceiving!

Two of the most difficult weight lifting movements for people are snatches and overhead squats. Why? The thoracic spine aka the middle back is often very stiff due to the amount of sitting and time in front of computer that is common in our culture. If you cannot extend, aka move backward, with your middle back it is very hard to get your arms above your head in a proper position.
You can help yourself by number one watching your posture while you work or sit. Number two by mobilizing your middle back any chance you get and getting it manipulated/adjusted.
