I started this collection shortly after my engagement in lucid dreaming declined due to a new job and life in general. That's why I almost never post here.

Now, after more than a year since I've actively tried to induce a lucid dream I am surprised to say I am fairly satisfied with my dream recall and lucidity. It seems to be true (at least for me) that long-term occupation with the topic changes how easy it is to get into it later.

Pulling an All-Nighter Impairs Working Memory in Women

Over the last few decades, a wealth of evidence has accumulated to suggest that a lack of sleep is bad for mind and body. Working memory is important for keeping things in mind for briefer periods of time, which thereby facilitates reasoning and planning. A team of sleep scientists from Uppsala University now demonstrates that acute sleep loss impacts working memory differently in women and men.

The research is in Journal of Sleep Research. (full open access)

TIL that the best CD drives for reading scratched and deteriorated CDs was produced until 2006. Basically, if you still haven't copied all of your CDs, it's too late now. You'd have to pay ~200$ for a used CD drive whereas a new Blu-Ray drive costs only have that. The worst part about that is, I bought such a drive back when it came out. I shouldn't have given it away for free years later.

It's not that bad for DVDs. But it's probably going to be, soon.

Edit: I'm talking about the Plextor PX-230A

True? Prime example? Idk. But it's at least a nice story.

I can't cook and I can't learn it by repeatedly trying because I'm not able to resist experimenting extensively. Good thing nobody else has to eat what I'm making whenever I can be bothered to try again.

But I can bake simple biscuits. I was done experimenting after the first couple of dozen times there. But still, every batch that I make is different. These here are soft butter cookies that were requested from me. The color is "whatever, they are good".
