in this water scene, don't you need to meter the water , as It appears that the water is contributing quite a bit of light into the picture

45 minutes, that's it.. that's all I could stand watching this crappy video. this guy makes things up as he goes, sure hope he isn't charging the girl for this awful massage he is giving to her.

Are You For or Against this Pipeline???
Personally, I think its high time we end more drilling , and opt for cleaner energy. Germany is Forefront on Clean Energy, we should follow suit :) Stop doing things as usual, and finally do things to clean up our land, air,and waters. Besides, look at the gulf, what happened there will be hundreds of times worse, cause the ice and weather will make it 100 times more difficult to control any breaks that happen. Big Oil has not proven beyond a shadow of a doubt, they could even stop such a disaster when it happens.....

fantastic  lesson on lighting. I do have a few questions I hope can be covered in a future episode .  first off what lens are you using and why did you chose that lens? second , is there a set rule for how far the lights will be placed form your subject and  in what instances might you shatter that rule and put the lights closer or father away? next question is , in what situations might you use (or do you use) lighting behind a subject???

Thanks +steve g  That's a lot of question to answer in one go here. The lens is a Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8G ED and i used it because i wanted a narrow field of view to exclude the room and stay tight on the subject. The further away the lights are the more gently it falls away so shadow / highlight areas are less contrasty - Watch the rest of this 3 part series to see how light falls away. I'd backlight to put highlights in hair or on a cheek. Again watch the series on my site as it's easier to go one to the next http://www.photographycourses.biz/studio_lighting_basics_1b.html
