A quiet, modest dining room in the heart of West Village, Chef Anita Lo seamlessly blends together elements of French technique and Asian ingredients. Her Foie Gras Soup Dumplings taste as wonderful as they sound; each is filled with a foie gras jus and jicama, and carefully topped with a piece of seared foie gras. In the realm of entrees, the Roasted Chicken is no pedestrian dish; it's filled with pig's foot, truffles, and a sherry reduction. The tasting menu at Annisa is one of the best deals in the city, as five courses will cost less than $80. Plan accordingly, because reservations are difficult to obtain.

This is a beautiful restaurant with a warm, elegant, and understated atmosphere. The service is phenomenal. I very much enjoyed my experience eating here, but I found the food to be the weakest aspect. The wine was great. I ordered the foie gras with soup dumplings as an appetizer. As a soup dumpling lover, I was excited to try a fancier version of them. They were prepared like ravioli, and will probably remind you of ravioli when you bite into them. They were filled with tasty soup, and duck with a very ducky flavor. They were good. However, they were not as enjoyable as regular soup dumplings from a Chinese place. The foie gras was also good, but no better than foie gras I have had at many supposedly lesser restaurants, and not as good as others. I also tried the BBQ squid appetizer and, while also tasty, it was nothing special. For an entree, I ordered the pork ribeye, which was more enjoyable than the appetizers. That was the best overall dish I tried. But it wasn't exactly awe inspiring and didn't really give me anything I haven't had before, and can't get at many other places. Again I would describe it as just good, but nothing more. The single best item was the fried garlic milk balls which came with the mackerel entree. Those were pretty interesting and very delicious. I did see the orders of the diners at the table next to me which included bass with miso broth (bass was filling in for the sable, which they ran out of) and the chicken entree. Those both looked considerably better than mine. Maybe I ordered the weakest dishes. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience, but considering the wealth of fantastic restaurants in this price range, I just don't see myself returning. I would like to mention again that the service was amazing. Possibly the best of any restaurant I've been to in NYC.

We went in the late Fall and had the 5 course tasting menu. The service and the decor is exactly what you'd want from a restaurant of this type. Elegant and romantic, without feeling too posh or anything. The pacing of the tables was perfect. Our food was all perfectly executed and it was a great menu, but the dessert was just ok. Overall, while the meal tasted delicious, it did seem to miss something, some creativity maybe. Still a great place.

Annisa was a really nice dining experience. The service is impressive, and they don't miss anything in terms of details. The host, who checked our coats when we walked in, remembered which belonged to us and had them ready at the door after he saw that we were getting ready to leave. The atmosphere is very warm and comfortable but not at all cramped. We took our time with dinner and I never felt rushed. The food was really good, the presentation was nice. The barbecued squid and mackerel both had a kick. I also tried the soup dumpling appetizer, which was tasty, but not as good as soup dumplings you can get at other, much less expensive places, so I'd probably get a different app if I went again.

Chef Lo has delivered an experience that sets a new standard for elegant surroundings and exceptional food with engaging service. Two visits, both the tasting menu with wine pairings and the ride was exhilarating. Spice's of Asia mixed with subtle French flavors and American flair...don't miss it. This is a great place for a special night, one of my favorites.

When it comes to food money is no object and this a great example of fine dinning in NYC. We went with the 5 course chefs taste sampler and was pleased we did. Its ambiance was romantic that evening which for me turned out to be a good thing!

Although it's still a beautiful space and the service remains impeccable, the food came down a notch the last time I dined here. Maybe Anita wasn't in the kitchen, but I suspect the seafood options are better here than the other entrees. I had Wagyu beef which was good but did not blow my mind like the sable did last time. I still find this place to be one of the best in the city though.
