The only reason I am giving this a 2 star is not from the quality of the hotel. The hotel is Amazing. My girlfriend and I had the best view of the harbor and the Queen Mary on the 11th floor. It was breathtaking. The reason for the 2 stars is after our 2 day stay and 450$ later they also removed an additional 250$ from my account and then finding out we were charged that as a smoking fee. We did not once smoke in the room. We walked outside past the parking structure by the street adjacent to the laugh factory, which is not a close walk after walking through the hotel. They said it will take 24hrs to find an answer on the reversal but this was unacceptable.

My fiance' and I took a trip to California to celebrate our anniversary and our recent engagement. Hyatt made sure to take real good care of us. After a long day of traveling, we were greeting at the reception desk by a very sweet girl who had nothing but positive things to say and lots of enthusiasm. They gave us complimentary breakfast for our stay as a congratulatory gift and one night when we got back to our room there were 6 chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of champagne on ice. It was thoughtful and a very nice touch. The rooms themselves were spacious and clean. The view of the harbor was beautiful to wake up to and we were never bothered by other peoples noises. Great place to stay!

Area is quite beautiful! Great walking, dining, and views regardless of being somewhat heavy on the industrial-shipping, side. The downside, while staying here four nights for business was that the Hyatt Regency Long Beach has added fees wherever possible. For Example: No refrigerator in room - must request and pay fees for a refrigerator. Laundry - no on-site facilities - must order a valet laundry valet service Internet - of course must pay Parking - of course must pay Other Annoyances - very cool rooms, turning up heat does nothing - smell of cigarette smoke that creeped into room through the circulating air vent (even when off) - big red stains on carpet. - only two drawers, small closets, poor storage - no detailed harcopy of hotel information, must do this strange web-browse thing on tv to find information about the hotel Don't get me wrong some postives included: - friendly on-site staff - clean crisp linens on bed - aesthetically pleasing furniture, color scheme, bathroom - coffee maker and coffee in rooms, nice shampoo/cond - hardryer

Stayed for five night as part of a group to see the Rose Bowl Parade. Pros: Very clean room. Comfortable Bed. Wonderful view. Good location. Friendly staff. Cons: Small room for the price. No free wifi (come on people...this is just offensive..is free wifi just soooooo Econo Lodge you can't offer it?) Bilks you at every turn. This is a convention hotel - and I'm sure it's a good one (although I still don't understand the lack of free wifi...) It's NOT a family place - the rooms are not large enough to accomodate more than two and are really designed for one - again it's a convention hotel. If money is no object and $2.50 sodas, $18.00 buffet breakfasts (and it was OK - but hardly amazing) $9/day wifi (I can't get beyond that) don't bother you - your going to be fine. So again - if your company is picking up the tab - it rocks. There are at least a dozen great places to eat within walking distance of the place and your in a safe neighborhood. With no fridge or microwave in the room - there's no way to bring in some food to save on a couple of meals and the abundant choices nearby don't include Subway's, McD's or whatever (but again - there are some great restaurants here). I found a place called KMD maybe two blocks over that could feed me well for a reasonable price - but I would love to have had a place to store some sodas and sandwiches. The costs REALLY add up. Most people staying at the Hyatt understand that going in - they are either attending a convention on someone elses dime or they have enough dinero to not flinch at an $18 breakfast buffet - but for a regular guy like me it got pretty difficult pretty fast. Free wifi would have bumped this review up a star. To me that showed they really didn't want anything but the executive level customer. In short I had larger rooms and much more ammenities at Marriot Courtyards and Holiday Inn Expresses.
