Realized that I haven't posted in G+ in A WHILE. How are people finding this social space? Helpful? Dead? Be interested to hear any experiences (positive & negative).

Must-follow list of educators. Great start for back to school.
Here are some of my favorites educators using Google+ and contributing to the network often. I hope this helps with building your PLN now that we are #backtoschool! I'm considering new additions if you have any suggestions!

Making sure my Google+ friends see this cool mini-documentary the +Edutopia team did on remaking classroom spaces for learning. Hoping it inspires many to start taking control of their classroom spaces :)

This is just around the corner! If anyone is free on 8/1 in the Bay Area, the first ever EdcampMarin is happening. Come join us!
Come enjoy a day with colleagues from California and beyond. Arrive with an idea for a session that you would like to lead or with the anticipation of a full day of learning. A session might explore a technology tool, a discussion about best practices, or a collaborative presentation with multiple facilitators.

During the first hour (8:00-9:00), you will have time to meet other teachers over coffee. There will be an empty session board where you and all attendees can post session titles. Sessions begin at 9:00 am.

Over the course of the day, you will have the opportunity to attend up to four sessions. The rule of the unconference is to “vote with your feet”. If a session doesn’t meet your needs, simply get up and move on to another room.

We will not be providing certificates for the professional development you receive. You will learn great teaching strategies, make new friends, and receive information that you can immediately apply in your classroom and professional life.

More info: http://www.edcampmarin.org/

What is the Cost?
EdCamp Marin is free. There will be an epic food truck that will be on site for lunch.

What Should I Bring?
Bring a friend. Bring a laptop or iPad–you will want to view the session board online, tweet, take notes, and view websites discussed throughout the day.

How Do I Register?
Click here (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1VPBR4LiwK2yynBTlHKicLipeeKFdIz_BHlYhlnWsywI/viewform) to reserve your space. Registration is free, but limited. Note: You MUST register using the Google Doc above. RSVPing to this Google+ Event is not an official RSVP.

Questions?
Send us an email to edcamp@marinschools.org or just tweet us @EdCampMarin.

See you there!

If you're in the Bay area the week of August 10th, you don't want to miss EdcampSFBay. I'm helping organize it and it's one of my highlights for the year. Plus, it's free..so what do you have to lose?  :)
Come to the third annual edcampSFBay to be held in San Mateo, CA. Edcamps are free unconferences, where participants build the agenda the day of the event and choose sessions based on personal interest.

For more information about edcampSFBay as well as registration information, please go to http://www.edcampsfbay.org/. We hope to see you there!
