Yes, it is known, the majority of consumers perform online research before making an in-person purchasing decision. As far as the content they want to see when researching holiday purchases, 70 percent said customer reviews, while 57 percent said special offers, and 50 percent listed product features.
.
With that said, make sure to ask your holiday shoppers for a review of their experience!

It’s all about creating buzz, no matter what type of business you have or products you sell. Whether you are a hair salon, or restaurant, the more you interact with people the more likely your name will spread.

Think of the snowball effect, you start off with a small, such as an interesting video posted on Facebook. That video impresses a couple people, then those people spread the word. Before you know it that one post is all over. It’s about creating mega brand recognition.

It may seem counterintuitive that reading bad reviews can make a consumer trust a company more, but we live in an age where fake “social proof” is everywhere. Nowadays, anyone can buy thousands of Facebook likes or Twitter followers for a few dollars.

Savvy consumers understand that reviews also can be fake, so when they see a business with 100 perfect five-star reviews and no bad reviews, they tend to believe all the positive reviews are fakes, even if they are real.

Customers are smart: They know that all businesses, even the best ones, have at least some unhappy customers. So as long as negative reviews are seen alongside good reviews, they can humanize your business and reassure consumers that the rest of your reviews are legitimate.

There's a lesson here for businesses and consumers: online reviews should be seen as a form of constructive criticism, not revenge. When a customer shares a bad experience online, it's a chance for that company to learn from its mistakes. In the worst case scenarios, well-intentioned negative reviews can warn other customers away from bad apples. But if the customer isn't interested in being helpful and instead chooses to lie, then they could face genuine legal trouble.

Have you had a bad online review challenged by a company? Or maybe you're a business owner who's been the target of malicious reviewers? Share your perspective in the comments below!

Customers are deciding every day whether to select your business based on reviews. With most consumers only reading a handful of reviews, the most recent reviews are the ones they’re likely to see, which makes it critical for local businesses to monitor their new reviews and act on them so that any negative reviews are managed carefully and quickly.

The overwhelming takeaway is that reviews are clearly important to all consumers, and business owners should concentrate on improving their star rating no matter what gender their target customers are.

Thanksgiving Day generates a bounty of wonderful memories for many people. The crisp air. The smell of a turkey roasting and the sweet smell of pumpkin pie baking. Cheering on your favorite football team surrounded by loved ones. All these create warm feelings during this special time of year.

You can share your wealth, your time, your food, and even your opinion. Yes, that's right, you can give back by sharing a nice review to those stores and services that assisted in making your Thanksgiving extra special.

The irony in reviews is that in some cases having no reviews can be worse than having bad reviews, especially for more modern consumers. Offering incentives such as loyalty points, discounts on future purchases, and complimentary items are commonplace in garnering reviews.

It’s also important to make leaving a review as easy as possible. Make sure your review links are clearly posted on your website, and that whatever type of form or input method you’re using is optimized for mobile devices. Follow up emails are another good way to encourage reviews, as the more time that passes after a transaction the chances of a consumer leaving a review decreases.
