Your 1740’s Highland Impression By Brian T. Carpenter

Many years ago I found the fantastic article written by Brian T Carpenter of the various classes of Jacobites , the article which I have published here on Jacobite in Japan outlines the different classes of Jacobite , their clothing & weapons and is a fantastic guide for anybody wanting to portray a Jacobite in the 1740s . A big thanks to Brian Carpenter for putting together such an informative article. The photos in the article also show Brian wearing the different type of kit mentioned. I hope you will find it of some use !

As I am leaving Japan next Mon , I attended a few farewell parties over the weekend. Last night I was able to met my long time friend and fellow tobacco pipe maker Ken Sakurai of http://www.kenpipes.com/home.html and he presented me with a fantastic rusticated billiard pipe that had been oil cured with matching tamper . I have always wanted one of his hand made pipes are they are so nice. Pics below of the pipe in question plus Ken & I enjoying a farewell drink together - Thank you so much Ken this pipe smokes very nice indeed !

As I am soon leaving Japan for my home country of New Zealand , I wanted to post some photos of my favorite Jazz band - Conccutive . It was the 1st real live jazz band that I have liked. Thanks Tamaki for introducing them to me and I was so happy to have been able to see preform live many times. Thanks Conccutive you are a fantastic band and I look forward to watching your youtube videos from NZ !

Today some good friends of ours took us up into the mountains to the mushroom farm which also has a restaurant. I never knew this place existed until today but was rather impressed. Being a Sunday it was packed but it was a very well run farm with a huge variety of mushrooms . You get a bucket and just full it up and its charged by the weight, just like some berry farms in NZ. Then we all bought a lunch mushroom set and grilled up a big feast of mushrooms which tasted fantastic .
