We shot at this wonderful new venue near #York. The Normans Wedding Barn and Farm! We'd highly recommend it! Look at those rustic twinkly lights! Hows that for a ceremony room? We also got to do a #firstlook which is always nice!

Amy and Matt’s wedding was 100% our kind of wedding. They did it exactly the way they wanted to and it was perfect. Scratch that, it was beyond perfect! Everything they told us about their day in the run-up never prepared us for how good their wedding was!

Being both arty people, like us, we knew their wedding would be an aesthetic delight but we were astounded by just how amazingly colourful their wedding was. It may actually be the most colourful wedding we’ve ever seen. Everything was fun, bright and exciting. From the table decorations, to the streamers and pompoms, the happiness was abundant and reflected their characters to a tea. Their barn wedding at the Cheerful Chilli in Otley gave them a blank canvas to work with, surrounded by a fantastic bit of Yorkshire scenery just outside of Leeds. The Cheerful Chilli, renowned for it’s vegetarian food, delivered amazingly for Amy and Matt’s wedding breakfast. It’s a seriously good venue for veggies or just anyone who likes good food, frankly!

And as regular viewers will know, we’re huge fans of dogs at weddings so when we heard that Audrey the dog, their little boston terrier was essentially the most important wedding guest we were very excited. She even got an extra special bath in the morning!

The weather might not have been as kind to us as we’d have liked but we still made a quick dash to the woods across the road. Otley Chevin has to be one of the best places to have on your doorstep and it quite literally is on the doorstep of the Cheerful Chilli. It’s grandeur and immense woody-ness just gets our creative juices going. The fun never stopped either, ice cream vans, friends with guitars, the fantastic magician that is Mark Waddington… it was non-stop aceness!

We had an amazing time with some amazing people, with new faces and old (you might recognise a few familiar faces in this blog post). Amy ant Matt, thank you, thank you for letting us be a part of your day.

We welcomed in the new year with Bryony and Richard’s winter wedding at Falcon Manor in Settle (and finally getting to blog it!). Falcon Manor is a gorgeous country venue in North Yorkshire for a relaxed wedding, set in the rolling hills which look glorious regardless of the time of year.

With the traces of Christmas still lingering, we met Rich at home dressing up his son who had the important duty of ring-bearer. Meanwhile, Bryony was getting ready in the huge Rafters Suite at Falcon Manor. The ceremony room was lit by amazing lampshades, huge LOVE letters and fairy lights for that sense of festivity! We love the photos of Bryony’s dad walking her down the aisle to an expectant Richard, and of course our little ring-bearer who did an excellent job!

We made use of some of the big back drops of Settle in between rain showers to capture a little bit of Yorkshire for their portraits. The rest we made use of the twinkling Christmas lights dotted around Falcon Manor. And after some great speeches and gorgeous dancefloor photos we left them to fully welcome in the new year as newlyweds 🙂

Beth and James were blessed with absolutely stunning weather for their Devonshire Arms wedding. Glorious soft sunlight which made photos a breeze, especially in the grand setting of Bolton Abbey where they got married.

James got ready at the Devonshire Arms whilst Beth was over in Harrogate. I think the emotions of seeing his gorgeous bride walking down the aisle at Bolton Priory maybe resulted in a tear or two from James. And then again, once or twice throughout the day. We’ll forgive him, those photos are awesome and Beth did indeed look amazing!

After the wedding ceremony at Bolton Priory we took Beth and James for some photos around Bolton Abbey before the short trip down the road to the Devonshire Arms, the perfect choice for good food, good hospitality and a great location. Beth and James offered up a selection of ‘Old, New, Borrowed and Blue’ cocktails during the drinks reception which was a really nice touch, and particularly nice to sip on whilst enjoying the string quartet. All the kids running around made for great photos too and certainly kept us on our toes!

After some group photos and speeches we headed out into the country roads for a few extra portraits just before sunset. Everybody always has a pang of nervousness about portraits, but in reality everyone loves the 15-20 minutes they get to break away from the day and connect with each other as a newlywed couple. The smiles are inevitable!

Thanks Beth and James for inviting us to capture all the magic!

Verokia and Daniel planned their wedding at Ripley Castle all the way from Dubai, and frankly we have to tip our hats to them as they did an amazing job!

We met them both in the morning at Rudding Park to capture their preparations. Lovely bespoke and handmade details aplenty with Daniel’s cufflinks and Veronika’s dress which was handmade by her mother in delicate colours of pale of blue and pink, covered in embroidered flowers and layers of fabrics.

They both came together in the sumptuous library at Ripley Castle, always a favourite of ours with its lustrous red and dark wood interior. Throwing open the shutters lets in the light but it’s equally dramatic by candle light.

After drinks and a few relaxed, informal group photos on the terrace overlooking the lake, we took Veronika and Daniel around the grounds with glorious sun poking through the haze just at the right time. They then rounded off their day with some emotional speeches and an epic first dance. Enjoy!

Jo and Dan got married at Natural Retreats in Richmond, North Yorkshire. We don’t know how this place never came onto our radar before as it’s absolutely our favourite kind of venue with it’s mix of natural, outdoor living with all the comforts of stylish, mid-century-modern influenced furniture. The valley of Natural Retreats hosts all their amazing cabins which is where Jo and Dan got ready.

We love how relaxed their day was and it was great to see Jo getting buttoned into her dress (by four people no less!) on the deck of her cabin. Natural Retreats has – by it’s very name – a connection with nature and it’s perfect for anyone who wants to have a relaxed wedding and get some natural images surrounded by the stunning scenery of the Yorkshire Dales.

Back at the top of the valley sits the converted barn or ‘The Sanctuary’. Dan waited patiently for his new bride as guests congregated behind him. After a quick group hug Jo was stood by his side for their lovely ceremony. With a thunderous applause they were outside to a huge confetti parade and enjoyed drinks and canapes overlooking the valley. After some group photos, we took Jo and Dan for a fifteen minute breather and some photos of themselves around the woodland and in the pretty little yellow flowers that are all around the venue which we would later learn had the unattractive name of ‘gorse’! Still, they look great in the photos! And we haven’t even mentioned the gorgeous weather we had! The sun shone beautifully all day and made it a really fantastic venue for an outdoor wedding!

After speeches, a pub quiz and a hearty meal, Jo and Dan took to the stage themselves in lieu of a first dance – they’re in a band together… they’re just too cool these two! And as the late summer night rolled in, we headed off into the sunset.

Chris is an old pal of ours from both high school and art school, who subsequently met the amazing Liz. And after a swift half and pouring over some albums down at the local, they invited us to shoot their wedding. We obviously couldn’t say no!

Needless to say, it was an eventful start to a wedding which transpired to leave Liz with less than an hour to get ready. We were certainly impressed with how quickly everyone works when under pressure. They got married at Holy Name of Jesus in Cookridge before heading to the amazing Rudding Park near Harrogate for drinks and canapes with a jazz band adding to the nice fun and relaxed afternoon.

James got to play the overly enthusiastic chauffeur for the portraits, whizzing around the grounds on a golf buggy (perks of the job!). We made use of the fish pond and gorgeous early summer colours of the grounds. Chris and Liz had already had practiced being in front of the camera at their engagement shoot so we knew that to get the best photos we just had to let them be them. No posing, nothing contrived, just honest to goodness relaxed portraits – belly laughs a-plenty!

Back at the house were some seriously emotional speeches. Afterwards we enjoyed one last 5 minute portrait session in the setting sun before letting the two of them get back to the party. Thanks for having us guys, we had a blast!

Ross and Alex are both in the armed forces and their wedding at Yorebridge House was a wash of ceremonial uniforms and colours. And with all the regimental regalia came some awesome moments throughout the day that made Ross & Alex’s day extra special.

Alex got ready in the barn at Yorebridge House whilst Ross collected his vintage Morgan and enjoyed a leisurely drive through the Yorkshire dales. Obviously, everyone wanted to get photos along the way so we were only too happy to oblige. They finally met again at the end of the aisle at St Andrews Church in Aysgarth. After the captains had given their readings and the rings exchanged Ross and Alex made the most memorable exit to date…guard of honour, a quick snog and a confetti dash to whisk themselves away in the Morgan. Pure romance!

We took the long route back to Yorebridge House to make a few pit stops at some picturesque locations. The mist was being stubborn and had well and truly settled in the valleys but still didn’t spoil the romance of it all!

Back to the party at Yorebridge House, Ross and Alex were piped in by the bagpiper for drinks and canapes on the lawn with the sound of piano in the now warm early summer air. After speeches we made a few extra minutes for some photos in amongst the buttercup field in the low sunlight and they look absolutely gorgeous. And after the obligatory cutting of the cake by sword, the dancefloor was packed and Alex even took to some crowd surfing! All in all, one of the most amazing weddings ever!

We love Sophie and her bridesmaids’ vintage inspired tea dresses and their choice of wedding venue befitting of that vintage vibe. The whole day at Sophie and Martin’s wedding at King’s Hall & Winter Garden in Ilkley just oozed effortless vintage chic. Sophie arrived by VW camper van to their ceremony on the balcony where Martin eagerly awaited her. Followed by a confetti rush down the stairs we took a two minute stroll to a seemingly secluded lush green park right in the heart of Ilkley. It was a romantic and beautiful spot for portraits together and we absolutely love them!

Enjoy the photos!
