What a fun place for a tourist! It is 'cozy' (small-ish), but great music, good beer at a reasonable price. And we picked up sweatshirts to bring home. Lots of interesting locals and a traditional feel. A must see if visiting.

Rude barman. Disappointing because it's a really nice bar.

This is the best pub in Galway. I lived in Ireland for about 6 weeks and we visited almost every evening. Their prime location near Shop Street keeps you in the fun of Galway. The small size makes it intimate and cozy. We had fun meeting locals and sharing a pint of Guinness. The music every evening is a wonderful addition to the entertaining atmosphere.

The best pub in the centre of town to catch some live traditional music. Draws a mix of locals and tourists, and has a small seated smoking section out front on the pedestrian street. Good pints, and there's usually a seat to be found down at the back if you need one, but a crowd will gather and stand around the front and along the bar for the live music. It's a friendly, cosy spot where you'll find yourself chatting to strangers, and where locals and tourists mingle quite easily. Some great old photos on the walls too!
