Kate Charlet did cyber policy and strategy under 3 different U.S. defense secretaries. In her talk, The Future of Cyber Conflict, she gave a bunch of interesting predictions. http://www.irckc.org/m/event_details.asp?id=1041848

Putting the AIY voice kit together was pretty easy. Now when will I find time to actually do anything interesting with it?

+Romain Vialard I'm struggling to get https://sites.google.com/site/scriptsexamples/new-connectors-to-google-services/picasa-services to work. I'd appreciate any help you can offer, even if only to let me know that you don't expect it to work.

I get as far as "Error: please open this URL in your web browser..." and reviewing the permissions there, but when I hit the Authorize button, I get a blank response. I thought maybe it had worked, but when I run my script function again, I get the same "Error: please open this URL..."

Some context: I made an album of #photos that I want to print for a relative, but google photos no longer integrates with printing services. So I want to get the captions and such out in bulk so I can migrate them elsewhere.

rsync let me down; carbon copy cloner came through, though

The hand-me-down MacBook Air that my wife uses to work at home has been ailing for a while; we finally pulled the trigger and got a new (well, refurbished) one.

I thought I'd migrate photos and music using rsync over wifi, but that was going painfully slowly. Then I discovered a disk with a backup of the old machine from 2014. I thought surely rsync would take advantage of that. But even though the SSD in the old machine is 120GB and the backup is on a 160GB disk, rsync ran out of space.

What I didn't realize is that all those photos and songs are in an encrypted sparsebundle.

So I re-formatted the 160GB disk and started over with carbon copy cloner.

The result seemed to have an empty folder in /Users/ ; evidently it goes at /Users/.who/who.sparsebundle . Using `open` from the command line got it mounted.
